Yesterday I was vacing the living room carpet with the Compact C9 (with Eureka PN) & I didn't realize the PN wasn't picking up the dirt until I turned the PN upside-down & found out the belt had slipped off the brush roll pulley.  I re-installed the belt, only for it to snap in ½ (length-wise)!  Then I put on a new belt & the belt snapped again but across the belt width (like most belts do)

What could be the problem?  I'm using genuine Eureka PT belt & had put in a new PN motor & brush roller.  This is my 1st use of the PN since putting in a new belt, motor & brush roller; before I used the metal Compact rug tool (it says Compact on front)  Could my carpet be the possible culprit?  Its 1970s/early 80s-era w/w shag carpet (surprisingly still in good shape w/o rips/tears)

Should I be using genuine Compact/TriStar belt instead of Eureka belt?

Sounds to me like the belt may be too tight. Is it possible to relax the tension a little, maybe by moving the motor a tad closer to the brush roll?

I don't know if the belt is too tight or if its the correct belt

I installed a genuine Eureka style PT belt (they also have a CN style belt; both are for PNs) bcuz I also have a Rainbow R1024 PN (also made by Eureka) & same brush roller like the one I put on the Compact PN

Another factor might be the brush roll pulley size?  The new brush roller is EXACTLY the same style as the old one it replaced

Snapping belt Compact c8 c9 odd mine never fid that some thing is creating to much tenssion did you put belt on properly? Is every bearing of brushroll spinning like it should and what about motor?

It sounds like the power nozzle motor is loose. Grab the shaft of the motor and see if it moves around, you might have to tighten the 2 screws hidden under the decal on the top of the power nozzle. Push your fingers in the blue part of the decal and push a philips screwdriver through the decals to tighten the screws. You can try lifting the decal with a warm hair dryer, but i doubt it will regale down nicely.

Motor is on tight despite having to peel the Compact label part way

There are 2 brush roller pulley sizes:

Small

Large

& motor pulley size:

Short

Long

Both are thin shaft

& thick shaft (like Rainbow R2800 PN)

Do I have the wrong brush in the PN?  Or motor with wrong shaft length?  The current brush roller has large pulley; & the motor has thick shaft.  If its the correct brush and/or motor, should I be using TriStar belts or stick to Eureka style PT belts?

I bought genuine Rainbow PN motor (for mdls R1650, R2800 & R4375) with thick shaft because the motor spins the motor faster

does the motor spin by hand does the brush roll bearing spin freely i have a Compact C9 never burn a belt up .Yours might have a tight brushroll or motor? Can you show me inside your power head ?

Hey

I had issues similar to yours. The clutch where belt goes doesn't go full length of brush roll opening. If you attach belt keep bottom off and see what is hitting. My motor needed small adjustment and it works great.
