Hi all,
I thought that I would throw in my experience with commercial use vacuums over the past 20 years. The vast majority of the time has been a mix of Windsor uprights that I did not have purchasing control over.
VS1/3 - mid 90's
VS14 - 2000's
VSP14 - 2010's
In short, I hated all of them. They are big, clunky, overpriced vacuums. There is not enough space available to describe disappointments - front covers randomly falling off, motor bases that fell off, upright locks that didn't, cords that twisted up in knots. I was lucky to get 5 or 6 years out of them before major overhaul. They were used about 1 hour per day.
Now I'm out of healthcare and in education. Big difference. They had a pile of Windsors that were not serviced. I have scrapped those and picked up Nilfisk Advance Spectrum 15D's. Incredible machines. Two stage vacuum, and a motorized head. Costs around $425 verses the Windsor VSP14 at $700. The 50' cord beats the Windsor 40' cord. Extra bag storage, onboard tools, and a nice feel make this the best commercial unit I've ever used. Most of my machines are used 2-3 hours per day. In the past year that I've had them, no failures. In snow and salt country, that also means three months of picking up tons of salt at entrances.
