Right so this is my first post on here so if I do anything wrong, don't shout at me! well, i've got a big thing for commercial vacuums, mainly because I spent a lot of my childhood in commercial environments lol I love the simplicity, durability and their ease of use. Theres not many domestic cleaners that i've got on well with over the years and almost always go back to using a commercial vacuum of some sort. So I was wondering, is there anyone else who uses a commercial vacuum in a domestic setting? or is there anyone who runs a cleaning company etc that has experience with them? what are your thoughts?

I'll start, these are my dailys. First is the Ensign Stealth 1 which is essentially a rebadged Sebo X1 made by the cleaning supply company Johnson Diversey, Second is my Kerstar KV15/1 (for my hardfloors etc) and third is my Hoover u7008 that I use for doing the communal carpets in the hallway outside my flat.

HI Ryan

Really like you Kenstar , I like that style of tub type vacuums, I also have the hoover U7008, I used to have 24 of them but they were sold to a guy who cleans a college here. he flat out refuses to use any other type of vacuum, he traded almost  new sebo 370's and numatics for them. he brings them into my shop twice a year for a service and belt change.

Nice to have you here

thanks, I can't praise the U7008 enough, it weighs a ton but they're just brilliant and when parts need replacing they're easy to work on. What more could you want in a commercial vacuum lol the Kerstar is a lovely old tub, probably the quietist vacuum I own. And the thing I love is the fact that Kerstar still make commercial vacuums to this day, they've been around for years

I love commercial Vacuum Cleaners, but only own one, a Numatic... That's all I need say, ha ha!

I WILL buy more sometime though, when I expand my collection.

its quite hard to get used commercial vacs because they've usually had a hard life and to buy new they're considerably more than a regular vac. I've just spent a small fortune doing my Sebo's up lol

Very nice

your commercial vacs are very nice looking machines.

As for using commercial vacuums in house i do have a Windsor Versamatic i was using earlier today, i suppose the Lindhaus healthcare pro could be considered commercial, i've also got a Sanitaire.

i've never tried a Lindhaus before, but i've just been given one that needs a bit of tlc, so hopefully that'll be running soon

Good photos Ryan. I remember the Hoover commercial upright very well. One of the first vacs I ever used when I started working for a cleaning company when I was 18. God they really did weigh a ton but I loved the noise they made and they did pick up well.

A few years ago, I almost bought one of them Hoover commercials (the older model without the massive bumper, can't recall which model no. it was), I was put off by the weight of it, and the fact that the bag it had had a few holes, so, I left it...

My favourite over-the-top massive commercial vac is my Victor Europa 271, it's bigger than that Hoover commercial, and weighs just as much, and it is just insane at cleaning, cos you don't adjust it to the carpet height, it adjusts the height of the carpet for you... :P

Ryan, I also love that Kerstar. It's a very neat looking machine. I reminds me of the Nilfisk, only bigger and more sturdy. I like that Hoover, too. It's not a great looker, but I bet it is a tank. Far more sturdy than most of the commercial vacuums on the market.

That Victor brings home a memory or two. I used to have some old, well-used examples of these in storage. Not sure if they worked or not, and it was rare I needed a part off one. I had them under the Victor, Nilco, and Electrolux brands.

LOVE that victor upright! I know there was definitely an Electrolux badged one and possibly a Goblin one too called the Dogsbody? But I might be wrong. I remember seeing a US Hoover Commercial similar to the guardsman but in red and a kind of brushed steel with a head lamp on the front, that was a gorgeous looking machine. I rarely use the u7008 in my flat purely because it's just too big, but it does a great job of the communal hallway carpets, I love the sound of the sand and grit hitting the dirt chamber lol The Kerstar is a lovely machine, so well built and reliable and funilly enough it has a Hepa filter under the chrome grille on top so filtration is great too.
