When I was little I found an old commerical vacuum in my aunt and uncles closet. It was red and black. It was given to me 2 years later. I kept it for a year and it got pitched. I was about 5 or 6 or 4. I honestly do not remember. But I want to describe it and see if anyone can identify it, because I would pay a serious amount of money just to have this vacuum back into my possesion. I loved it, and it is so sentimental to me. OK, it had a black bag, with a red strip on the side that said "commerical" side ways, I never did find out what kind it was. It was a black vacuum. Large circular back plastic handle. At the part of the handle grip that is closestto the base, there was a circular switch that circled around the handle. I believe that this was a brushroll on/off switch. The switch was red. I could have been self propelled and that could have been that switch. But it beats me. The actual switch was right under the back of the handle (like a convertible) but it was not a "light switch" It was like a later convertible switch. It had a two speed motor. It was quiet also. I would love to find out what kind it was so I can track one done. I am thinking after talking to another collector that is a Singer or Kenmore. I have no clue. So if you have one, or know what it is, please reply to this thread, or email me at [email protected] Thank You.

Sounds like

A Kenmore to me also,im thinking the circular switch closest to the base was to rewind the cord? Did it have a cord winder? or it coulda been an overload protection reset?
You got me thinking on this one kiddo,TTYL

i do not think

it had a cord rewinder. I vaguely remembered that black cord winding up like anyother Convertible or Eureka. But I think it might have had a bottom plate like a Eureka. But it is hard to say. Ohhh but ohhhhhh LOL it had this particular smell, and I loved it. I can still smell it today :(

u would not believe this!

i have been thinkinh about it all day and it hit me. it was either a quiet kleen or quick kleen. i have a picture of the base at home on the bottom of a rug. i remember it having the dial a nap and a eureka bottom plate. it had to of been a early sanitaire of a eureka.

Thats what I was thinking Matt

That it was a Hoover varyation.
Chase,If it was a QuickKleen I think the bag woul be red,as I don't remember them having black bags.I coul be wrong.Sanitare also has the foot switch like most Eureka made uprights do.
Im thinking Hoover rebaged as Advance,??
