Anyone know where i could find 1.5” vacuum hose with cloth/fabric wrap? Need 15-20 feet. Thanks!
Eureka actually used cloth-braided hoses until 1956 when it introduced its first vinyl version with the Super Roto-Matic 910. The switch to nylon-braided ones came in the early '60s, followed by the second iteration of vinyl ones with the Sweet Sixteens in 1971. The Roto-Matic power heads premiered the following year; although the Sweet Sixteen hoses may have been a test run to determine customer satisfaction and durability beforehand. That, and actually, The introduction of electric power nozzles. Initially, the entire electrical cable was strapped around the hoses. Eureka changed to vinyl hoses with the Sweet 16 series, and an integral wire vinyl hose for the power teams. Hoover used a wire reinforced vinyl hose for the Celebrity powermatic series, etc. Kenmore and Panasonic were similar to Eureka.
Electrolux Corporation used braided hoses with its power nozzles from 1960 to 1993 with its tank-type cleaners (vinyl hoses were made for the commercial canister-types). Both the metal tanks and braided hoses were discontinued in 1993.I should have remembered power nozzles, whoops.
I just wanted you to know that the braided hoses were used successfully for many years with power nozzles by the company; even if vinyl ones were predominantly used with them in the industry.Electrolux was the exception, not the rule, though. They used cloth until the tools at their factory fell apart I think.
You're welcome.I forgot that they changed the internals! Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
