VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Don't think I would want to "pay" for the cleaning--and then buy their vacuum afterward. And has that vacuum been used to "clean" how many places before it does yours.Do they perform the Rainbow demo as they clean??If they are saying that they do homecleaning they should be prepared to do more than just the vacuuming.Yes,be prepared to scrub sinks, swab potties, and clean the oven!

I'm always paranoid at the thought

of someone else cleaning my house.

Things that go through my mind: If they used strong cleaner in the shower or the vanity or the toilet, did they rinse it well? I mean, if you sit on the toilet, are you sitting on half ass (no pun) rinsed chemicals, or step in the shower where perhaps they sprayed Tilex. Did they bother to rinse it well so that it doesn't get on your skin. All these thoughts go through my mind because I know how people are. It's not their house and you can't follow behind them watching them EVERY second...you can make something look clean without it actually being cleaned properly.....so I have always just done it myself.....Unless it's someone that I REALLY trust when it comes to doing something like that.

My cousin cleaned houses back when I lived in NC in an area called Connestee Falls outside of Brevard. It is a gated area in the mountains where mostly rich people lived and they spent their time there during the summer months and went back to Florida for the winter. At one point her helper was in the hospital and she asked me if I would help her. I did not NEED or want to do this at all, but I did help her for a couple of week and I HATED it!!! I do not enjoy cleaning even though I'm a clean freak. I found that I did not clean their houses the way I would clean my own because it was not mine......So I assume in my warped mind that everyone else is the same way. It's not mine so I'm not going to clean it as if it were mine.

I've never had anyone clean my house for me. But if I did, I would want them to CLEAN the entire house. Not just do the vacuuming, which I can do myself. I would want them to do the things I don't like to do, like clean the fridge, the oven, the toilets, etc. Vacuuming is the easiest thing, cleaning the bathroom is not. For $25, I want them to do the things I don't want to do, not the very thing I enjoy. Many people I guess don't like vacuuming, but if I had them come to my house, and paid them $25 to vacuum 2 rooms, I'd make them use my Central Vac.

I pay for cleaning. For much of her later working life my mother had housekeeping jobs and now I have a cleaner.

I like a clean living space but cleaning it is now very hard for me, even the vacuuming. I am, fortunate to have enough money to pay for such assistance, though there are many areas of life where I have been penalised so don't anyone think money is the be all and end all.

Even if I was a cleaning fanatic, I can't do it myself, so to this end one has to take what services are avaliable and pay the price which is requested. I am lucky to have found someone who does care enough but then I do pay her considerably more than she asks as I can't afford to lose her.

After my mother died I did have a few different cleaners over a very long period of time, but as I was able to do my own work back then I was not as commited to the process as I am now. So then if a cleaner left I didn't immediatly seek another, and in one case actively encouraged her to leave as things were not working out.

Not Difficult

It isn't difficult to make the water in a rainbow look dirty. Any time you mix dirt, dust and hair with water it is going to look disgusting. I agree with the above mentioned; it is amazing how misleading the vacuum cleaner business is. This is why good machines (SEBO, Miele, etc.) don't need to advertise. They do the job and do it well. No need to trash others and mislead when you have a good product. Problem is, most vacuums on the market are crap. If they told the truth they wouldn't make a dime. You get what you pay for although I am not a Dyson fan. It is too "plasticy" for me and I don't like bagless. Give me my SEBO any day!!

"...hardwood floors do have dirt that gets between the slats"

Yeah, if the floor isn't sealed in the first place.

Sorry to disappoint you Shrink but SEBO and Miele both advertise their vacuums/floorcare ranges. Might not be in the U.S but they do appear to advertise worldwide, either online or in the press.
