Why such a long hiatus/??

That's kind of a long story. Without going into too much detail, I had a bad breakdown over Christmas one year. And I was alone and my family weren't there. And my friends were busy with their own lives. So for a long time, I didn't do Christmas because it brought back all those feelings of being completely alone and scared. I didn't feel that that was something worth celebrating.

But life takes you off in different directions and since me and my hubby moved in together earlier this year, I decided it was time to make some new Christmas memories - the start of a new chapter.

It was a good year for hydrangeas. The two small silver trees my mom bought in 1956. Each Christmas my sister and I got to put one of them up. I found the new old retro one at a junk sale. I wasn't going to put it up but my nieghbour found a colour wheel for me.
The owner of the store that sold the little trees is long gone. His wife was here for dinner. She was my mom's 5th grade teacher. Mrs Mckay is in her 90s and still very clever and enjoys life. She remembered the little trees and my mom buying them.
