I have purchased an early run (second version) pre-war Electrolux XXX on eBay. I am very excited, as I have been searching for a pre-war machine with the aluminum rear, different front cover, and flat runners that attach to the trim for quite a while. Now just to find the rest of the original attachments! (Chrome floor brush, chrome dusting brush, suction regulator, original hose, etc. ) I will post pictures when it arrives!

Scarce...

For the longest time I thought I was the only collector in Kentucky! Definitely good to see you guys on here! I'm about 25 miles from Mt. Sterling KY myself.

I too look forward to seeing pics of that xxx myself looks like an awesome machine from the listing! The model 30 is my favorite model, in fact I just moved one of mine out of the way in the living room where the kids were dragging it all over the house tonight!

Here's a photo of it, my 20 month old thinks this is his vacuum!

XXX

That is a beautiful XXX. The design is timeless and was such an effective cleaner. The airflow of a XXX is strong enough that it is a workout to push the rug nozzle on some of my rugs with my newer XXXs.

Thank You!

You are absolutely right, to me they are a piece of art that is functional! I do have a newer "daily driver" (an Olympia One), but from time to time I just get the urge to hear that old motor purr and I take it through a complete tour of our 3000+ sq foot home. It impresses me every single time I use it. The powerful whoosh as the air rushes through the nozzle, how it will pull my throw rugs off the floor, and how relaxing it is to hear it humming happily to itself!!!

It arrived today

The machine arrived today and I am glad to have it, but slightly dissapointed. In shipping, the blower end was smashed in. I can't imagine what hit this package so hard that it completely broke metal. And it was packed well. Also, there were pieces of the Bakelite motor mounts inside the rear casing. The box must have been dropped. It also appears that the runners have been sort of smashed down in the rear to a point that the very back of the vacuum nearly touches the ground. I digress- it seems that every time something is shipped they treat it poorly in transit. That's a shame really since shipping is so expensive. Nevertheless, I am really glad to have this version XXX..
