Threaded a noose of twine cord around the top edges, hidden inside the folds and glued up the box splits. The major splits and corners of the lower carton are reinforced behind with glued-in sheet burlap cheescloth. The mends are stronger than the cardboard now.
I've seen the caddies that Doug makes and they are super. From him I adopted the idea of making patterns on brown paper from any caddy I un-fold for repairs. Then they can be rolled up and stored for future caddy making.
