Can Someone Tell Me The Story Of The Hoover Junior 1334E??

I have just recently bought a Hoover Junior 1334E and it looks exactly like the 1334A which has a green front plate and a green bag.
My model 1334E also has a green bag and green front plate, but I believe it should have a grey bag?
I have seen the 1334E in a brochure, which has a green bag and green front plate, so have those grey bags faded or..what?
For some reason, mine has no upper cord support, so, you have to rest the cord on the top cord hook or just hold it.

Either way it is still a beautiful hoover!

I was born in 1959 and the first junior I remember being on the market was the 1334A (1338 when bought complete with the tools) The 1334E was from the swedish green & grey range from around 1968. I have seen quite a few 1334E's and 1334's(pink % burgandy 1959-62) with genuine grey 1334A type bags fitted because neither the 1334 or 1334E bags stood the test of time very well. Although both the bag types on these cleaners were very different they had something in common: they were relatively flimsy.

I belive that the 1334E was introduced at the same time as the new (revamped) Junior 1346 - possibly to use up surplus parts. It should indeed have a grey bag - I am not sure if these were of the same material as the earlier all grey model or not, but agree with Walter that the material on these bags was not particularly hardwearing.

What you may have seen in the brochure with the green bag may well have been the slightly earlier version vefore the 1346 was introduced which had the full Smoke Pine/Swedish Green colour scheme as did the Senior/Convertable - that carried on for a while on teh Senior after the 1346 was introduced.

Thanks for the info guys, mine says on the rating sticker - 1334E then 133470500250 it was made in May 1967 the brochure I saw the 1334E in was from 1967, it was exactly the same as mine and it was along side the very first 1346 which had a brown bag and orange front plate.

so- when did the 1354a come about? where they available in the late 60's? i have one and i'm not sure how old it is. can i tell from the serial number? if so then here it is: 135400159968 any help would be appreciated!
by the way i like your junior, the bag looks a little sorry for its self in the ebay listing!!!

Yh it does, but I have washed it and it is so much brighter now and a few of the stains are gone.

By the way if you are wondering how I dated that serial number, what you do is - look at the first four numbers in the serial number, that is the model number, then the next three numbers after that, in your case "001" the first 0 being the year, so 1970, then, the next two are 01 meaning january as it is the first month of the year.
You have to know what decade it is from, that is the only down side to this dating system.
How do I know the era of this then - This junior has to be 1970 as this style junior was not made in 1960 or 1980

Just to add an extra complication to the story, I have a 1334E that has the grey bag and grey front plate, but it has an upper cable hook. I was under the impression that the 1334E was an economy model and the upper hook was omitted in order to reduce manufacturing cost. I assumed that my example must have been modified later in it's life. Please can anyone shed any light on this?

hi there, thanks for your help! i would like to date my 1980's junior but it is missing the type plate sticker thing. it has a light brown hood, and everything else is dark brown. it also has the older beater brush in it- not the activator. i was told by james(kirbymodel2c) that its a very late 70's/early 80's machine.
