I went thrifting today for the first time in a long while, and picked up a Hoover Concept One model U4209 with a serial number of 00007489. Does anyone know by the serial number when this cleaner was produced? They also had the same color burnt orange Concept One model (U3103?) in the power drive version. I was gonna take them both, but the power drive seemed a little more beat up. Both had service stickers for the same vac repair shop, so they must have been donated by the same person. Thanks for any info.

Hoover Year - Possibility

Hi, Hershel,

I recently cleaned my Hoover U4317 and in the process saw a "75" stamped at the base of the handle. I am guessing that it referred to "1975", the year it was manufactured. Let me know if you find a 2-digit number on yours--I am anxious to learn if my theory is correct.

no.....

the Concept didint come out till 1978, so it has to be after that. this machine is WAY to early to be dated by the serial number. ONLY Hoover machines made after 1987 can be dated by this method.
