Just got home & now its
Kirby Time

I notice a small spring in the box
a shurt fat one
Don't know where that came from as he had the motor packed in a plastic bag & the bag & emp is in a plastic bag I haven't even opened that yet.

The hose is in perfect shape
The motor is dusty & it;s been used but its ok
I will polish it as its grey & not shiny.

OK now I have the belt
I vacummed some grit that was under the light hood

My plan is to test it but should I do anything first
I don't even know how to turn it on
have to make sure he has the cord in the bag as I don't see it...

OOOh if you coudl help me get that part...wow
I looked at the handle it looks like it screws in but the screw & hook are missing

handle is surprisingly light

oooh well...

I got belt 301291 it's the kirby with ribs inside
looks a tad bigger than my royal but then again the inner circ could be same as the kirby belt is almost twice as thick & I have genuine royal belts...

Well, not sure where to start
maybe some pics of the new baby!~~~~

Wiped her down after the long dusty trip

Hope it won't be on its back too long

Kirbys' first pic...
LOL

was just a lil dusty

Now should I plug it in
maybe check it a bit more?

NO WIre

He forgot to pack the wire...
Now to get the cord

Darn!!!!

He appologized & said he'll look for it not knowing who packed it etc he could always send a another I told him I would like the origianl as its a copper brown color...

Arrrghhhh

Washed bag last night
Hosed the inside w Humpty Rainbow
YUCK
The bag smelled
Had to pull out about 6 inch pile of fuzz that was stuck in the top area.

Got it vacked then emp & all she took a bath...LOL

used a bit of simple green in water to freshen

Its dryin now standin on the emp w the hook attached to a hanger hanging from the door so its drying upright as if it was on the vac...neat!

Question...what end of the handle stem goes in the base?
the open or plastic capped end?

I suppose it doesn;t matter but which end would be better to have the reinforced plastic side?

The square nut washer fell our of the handle & the spring was in the box anyone now how they go?
Handle is missing the cord hook

No word on cord yet...if only I had a adapter

can I use a reg extension cord?

I don't see why not???? if the head will fit inthe opening
I have a thick green single head one...oooooohhhh

4-2-2008-11-15-50--camelotshadow.jpg

you can use a extension cord to test it out, as long as it will fit in the opening. the plastic sleve goes on the bottom part that connects to the base, i just took mine apart yesterday to polish it (and man does it look good!) and i noticed the plastic sleeve on the bottom part. the spring you have went inside of your handle (top part) thats for the swiveled cord hook. plug it in and turn it on!, i bet you cant wait!

Thanks Hope the ext fits its a 3 prong may be too wide

I got my rug renov, polisher & floor duster today
just thrown in box luckily the plastic parts didn't crack
book thrown in
but its ok

I have the manual!!!
worth the $10 but ouch $15 shipping & nt even wrapped in newspaper.

oooh extra hose but no where as nice as mine
its rusty inside but a spare & is water tight & soakin gin the tub

With the book it will be easier to operate it..

Well, thats the 12 Oclock Sani report
now to get to pep boys for some mothers

LOL

Ooh if the outlet head doesn';t fit well I'll be sad

Darn him
I hope he finds that cord

4-2-2008-14-29-17--camelotshadow.jpg

inside fan is as was...Clean

This kirby was taken care of & stored properly

The floor duster I got is all rusty under it
& parts have to be cleaned of sticky residue but they are still very good for the price

I think the kirby looks great how you have it now. Now all you need is the handi butler, attachments, and handi waxer and it will be complete. The Kirby HOme Care system is great machine like they said if you know how and can use all of its specail and wonderfull andvatages. I hope you enjoy your kirby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Evan

He'd better find the cord - its in the picture you first posted and I assume that's a picture he sent you?

Excellent complete system now. It's great to get the shampooer and floor polishing heads with both brushes. Congrats. Two serendipidous buys.

Dave

Sani hanging out with Silver...lol

I haven't tried it yet
I need the cord that's what I need///
No word from the seller on its location yet.

I suppose that's not the worse thing to find
but I want the original that came w that machine as the rubber is good.

CA states are dry & hot
kills the rubber
Good for not rusting but it dries out the plastic rubber parts.
This one is primo even the strap & hose like new...same with wire it looked supple.

Arrrgh guess all hope is not gone yet.
Simple oversight.

Still I haven't powered it on yet...

Bag is almost dry but it looks like it might be on sideways?
its parallel to the side of the emp and not facing forward straight or maybe thats the way they set them up?

Don't really need a waxer & the butler well not aure if thats so usable either. Really wanted the rug renovator so happy to have that

Baby got bulb..LOL

The cord is in his pics I took the pics from his listing as I found a way to save them by going to the original site overriding some glitch. The cord is clearly there as it can be seen the cord hook is missing from top.

What got me is when he said if he doesn't find it he can send me another Kirby cord. Now thats' not what I want even if was a matching color unless it was pristine.

Cords cost the price of the vac...

It was a great vac for the price but I do want everything listed.

Got the manual too on the parts auction & a 2nd hose thogh not as good as mine & that darn felt thing w rusty metal.
It could be sanded I guess.

Head is so easy to get off. It looks hard but its so well constructed just comes off & goes on without a struggle!

Nice but I want to do more than look at it now!

Bulb looks good & it looked like a spider had taken up residence in the past but luckily no one was home...LOL

Thanks KirbyS

I do see in my old pic the plastic is on the bottom
Still I can't see what to attach the spring & that flat wierd screw washer too in the handle.
I put the handle stem together & left the spring out
as it would just fall into the handle tube.

My ext cord is a 3 prong so its too fat'

I could find something & splice a head that will fit on a wire.
It could be done just to run it well test it
Better than stick 2 copper wires in the holes & taping it
LOL

Guess you can see I'm anxious to run it.

Everything is all clean now so its just the cord!

Qrrhj

Keep that spring and the 'speed nut'. When you get an upper cord hook you'll see that the spring keeps the hook snug against the handle against stop bumps. The spring-loaded upper hook rotates to release the bundle of wound up cord loops.

Now, I'm not sure this model has the rotating hook but I bet dollars to donuts it does.

Someone with a D50 should take a closeup pic of the hook for us and Christine.

Luv your infectious enthusiasm, Christine.

Dave

I did it again!

Got another D50
serial #A787563 it also says it was rebuilt on 10/85
comes with attachments which I need & I got it for about the price of the attachments & its a CA vac so its close & shipping low
It will go out tomorrow & I should have it in a day or 2

Kirby put in another axle looks like double wheels.

I figured chances are a vac rebuilt in 85 has to have minimal usagesince the rebuild. Wonder if a rebuild makes them like new?

Well we'll see

Doesn't have the hook I need though but it sort of comes free?

Missed a nice old Filter queen w the attacments I lusted for today

So one way or another I have parts & a cord..hehehehe

Is this crazy?
I guess not having the cord or even knowing if mine works yet fed the impulse & I can use the attachement

OOOOH have to go to Vac's Anonomous

Hey, on a 85 rebuild do you think they might install a bag conversion????
Would be nice!!!!!!!

Look at the wheels what's up with tha? has to be a new axle & looks like 2 wheels side by side
Hope it was rebuilt by Kirby & not bojack?

4-6-2008-21-34-32--camelotshadow.jpg

another shot

I hope they didn't roll it too much on concrete
it tears up the wheels
I get mine booties if they have to go outside
LOL

Darn..whats up with no upper cord hooks
So close...

4-6-2008-21-49-33--camelotshadow.jpg

No cord yet!

I'm dying here!
Where's that wire
supposed to be priority

Oooh well, Sani D50 # 2
if I'm lucky could be here tomorrow
& they can share the wire & the attachments

LOL

Box is a mess
Still shaking my head
but I got the access/hose & another polisher for $18 the vac free
So how could I say no!

4-7-2008-23-56-18--camelotshadow.jpg

He's sorry & is offering partial or full refund

Still no cord.
It;s beyond me?
He said he mailed it.

I got the mothers today
I guess a cord is not all that important in the scope of things
but I wanted the original cord!!!!!!!!

I didn't pay much for the vac but it will cost the price of the vac to get a cord

Arrghhhh

Guess its a good thing I got the vac
The 2nd vac w the cord a 100 miles away
seems to be lost.
A parcel sent Monday should have been here yesterday!

So far I am really fed up with all this muck!

Cord came...no big deal its taped all over.

So guess any kirby cord would have been ok as this one has 3 sections of 4 inch taping & I found another cut I had ti tape.

Needless to say I haven't started it as it was busy day

Then as I was having a surprise fire inspection & charging my battery in the garage the other d50 arrived.

Least he didn't say anything about the charger. Its an open garage but not excatly the best thing to be running 50 feet of extenstion & charging a battery when LAFD is snooping around

OK just unpacked the CA d50
Cord looks ok & wands look ok

attachments in box polisher head

bag is newer kirby not that great & another mess to clean
looks like emp has a crack on bottom though not bad

its kirby factory rebuilt 85
has double wheels in fron so a longer axle
brushroll not as nice as mine

hey I got it for the price of a cird & ATTschments I needed
so now do I clean old or run the first d50

LOL

Going to use the new cord for fear the taped ne could short

Thats the 5 oclock D50 report

OOOH & sucess got the benz to start

Yeah!
