Brand New TACONY Canister - the Wonder!

Ok, the color has grown on me overnight. I kinda like it. I tend to prefer silver, gray, white, or black on vacuums for some reason. Is there no place to store the crevice tool on board anywhere? I use my crevice tool frequently so I prefer to carry it with me on the machine.

That's good to hear about the power nozzle. I did not notice the slot at the rear until it was mentioned here. I didn't think the older Riccar's had parking slots but could be wrong. I hope they are quieter than they used to be. They used to make the most annoying racket. I have no major quarrels with the machine. I will definitely be looking into it at the local Riccar outlet.

Yep I think you're right about the Aerus Platinum Canister, it offers a lot and very smart looking. The only thing...no on board tool storage.

Heck the Immaculate or Impeccable offers more than the forth coming Wonder/Prima and they look better doing it.

It seems like the Wonder/Prima gave up on conveniences for "durability".
I'm all for duality but there has to be a happy medium where you have all the bells and whistles...that lasts the test of time.

You can tell the Wonder/Prima are not TOP OF THE LINE machines.

It's 2014, are we saying we can't make a circuit board that can handle variable motor speeds, electronic connections that stay connected or not fail prematurely...vacuums should have come further by now.

GeorgeCT, you are incorrect. The Aerus Guardian Platinum has on board storage. There is a caddy that holds the combo dusting/upholstery and the crevice tool on the wands. That's the same as what most machines offer. There are a few machines that offer the floor tool on board but most of them have to make them small. You won't find a big, grand combo floor/rug tool like the Lux one on board on any machine.

@ electromatik

Ok...I see what you mean about the "accessory tool storage" as Lux calls it.

But I'm talking "Under The Hood" storage like the Riccar Immaculate or Impeccable store FULL sized tools (under a door but above the dust bag).
Even the Kenmore Progressive stores ALL it's tools (including Power Mate Jr.) under the hood.
I just can't understand why EVERY canister can't carry it's FULL sized tools under the hood...it's the most practical/convenience design going for those vacuums.

Well I will have to disagree with you about the tool storage. I don't like the tools stored under a plastic door that you have to mess with every time you want to change tools.
I had that with my Hoover Anniversary, Miele and even on my Electrolux Epic 8000.
I had a new Panasonic and the door was so cheap it almost felt like it would break off every time it was opened.
I much prefer the simple storage like the old Electrolux G and L had on top of the machine.
As far as being easy to use, light weight, easy to carry and store you had to go a long way to beat the old Electrolux "L" . It was so simple and functional. Bag was easy and quick to change, and the machine was quiet. I also liked that it was narrow and would sit on a step or store on end and just a simple hose end suction relief. My new Miele and Hoover had very cheap useless above floor tools anyway.
That is just a personel thing for me. No right or wrong way to do it.
I think the new Simplicity/ Ricarr looks pretty good and the price point will determine how well I like the machine.
I know I don't like that Miele looking hose if it is in fact stiff and behaves like a Miele hose. Also will not like the wands if they are heavy and bulky like my Mile but really cannot tell until we see the machine in person and
get a chance to use it.
It is exciting to see a new product and thanks for posting the pictures.

It looks like an awesome machine. I wouldn't judge the color without seeing it in person. The picture likely doesn't do it justice. I'm not a fan of the "Wonder" name - because I don't know the story behind it. Maybe it would make more sense if Tom explained the origins of the name.

It would make the vacuum body too large and heavy. The Riccar Immaculate- I don't recall that there is full size crevice tool, or even an upholstery tool. I think you get a smaller floor brush and narrow duster/combo. But that is also one of the heaviest canisters! The big bushy three in one tool is on the wand with that model. Nothing is perfect. Miele canisters have the market on lightweight canisters, that's what many consumers like (not heavy). My mom was sold on the Miele canister for her condo vs a Simplicity Verve (she said it was too heavy to lug up and down stairs). Even newer Kenmore's have smaller tools and I think the trend is putting smaller attachments on the wand or hose base. I guess that's where people want them, who knows. In any case, I wouldn't get hung up on specific brands. You get what works best for you... I say Aerus Platinum or maybe the Sebo D4. I don't think it gets any better than that, for now at least.

Lighter easy to use vacuums that last I think is what's becoming in demand now. Smaller easier to maneuver canisters.

The rear wheels....

They are placed like the Lux Guardian Platinum. I really like this as I have tile floors and when you pick up vacuums like the Lux Legacy, the backend bumps against the tile flooring. With the wheels in this position it eliminates this problem to not only the machine, but the floor. I stopped picking my vacuums up on the tile floor except the Lux Guardian Platinum. I just pull the rest onto the carpet area....

It will be nice to see the price range of these vacuums. Also will the top of the power nozzle match the machine color? Like on other Simplicities and Riccars.

Tom, Thanks for giving us a preview, I am sure we have all been anxious to see these new machines.

I agree that tools should be on board AND convienient. As I serviced a near new super deluxe Sears can today I know what Rob is relating.First the tools are covered and 'hidden' and then when you use them the Sears today had doors that did not open smoothly. But when opened revealed a confusing, bulky and somewhat difficult to use assortment of atts.To be fair it worked well after general service & clean up.I much prefer the classic Elux idea seen above that 3 tools can do the work of 5.
Glad to see,if not yet hear, about the low noise level.
Still waiting to see carry handle.
Hope there is no removable bag holder to deal with and possibly lose as many with the not really removable Hoover S holder and others do.
"You can tell---not Top of the Line"--BUT,can your floors & furniture & carpet & drapes & drawers & rugs & mattresses & stairs & cars & window sills & dust & dirt & pet hair & grit & crumbs tell?!?(I assume your checkbook can tell it is not the Top of the $$$ range.)

Georgect. I agree with a lot of what you said except for the part about the Miele floor tool. It was never designed to clean any type of carpeting, otherwise they would mention that in the specs. I have a feeling this simplicity would do the same if you tried using on carpets, it's just how the neck is designed to pivot and move freely.

Uh-Oh--do I see a STUMPY-Short crevice tool-PLEASE-the longer version!Short crevice tools just can't reach under or around car seats.I would be sort of concerned about the life of NOT the motor-but the body. How 'bout the METAL body to match the durable motor?Like what was on 'Luxes and the Air-Ways.I Do like the Turquoise like color.Make the tools the same color! If I can't find a turquoise range or fridge-a Turquoise vacuum will have to do!

Tolivac

Good point above.I prefer the long Super J type crevice for many jobs.Yet another positive here is using a standard size hose end that would allow extra tools.I would probably add at least 2 standard plastic wands for cleaning at or toward ceiling. As to metal, when Elux went from metal DJ to plastic LE styles there was a loss of weight but not quality. The rear wheels on the Wonder seem to be in a perfect position to move vac behind you.
