I brought a lamp in for repair to a long-established electrical shop here in St. Charles. They have been in business here for years. I noticed that they had a Hoover logo in the window when I passed by every day but never imagined that they still sold Hoover vacuums. We had an electrical store that sold all kinds of appliances in my home town in the 50s and 60 including Hoover vacuums, washers, etc. I thought that this was a hold over and that they just sold and repaired light fixtures. Well, what to my surprise when I brought the lamp in but there was a Hoover Innovation on a cardboard stand, having stood there for 20 years! It was dusty but cleaned up well. Here she is, brand new!

Yep.

What he said. <br
A Bags work and you just fold them down. The type B bags were not around very long at all. Type A packages should also say "for Innovation, formerly type B.&quot <br
Congrats on your find! I have that model, and it is a great cleaner! Just be careful when you carry it, those handles (handle release mechanism) were weak~they had a lot of problems with those <br

Great machine. I had the opportunity to use Fred Stachnik's Innovation before he moved. I like the tool conversion on that model. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that model was popular/originated in Europe. I somewhat recall a connection to England. Am I right?? Anyone, Anyone ...

Yup.

They were manufactured in Great Britain. <br
Fred, what are the first four numbers in your serial number--the month and year it was produced.. <br
You have to put the handle in the operating position, and look inside the opening between the hood and the bag housing to find the model number sticker <br

Now, why didn't this model make it in the U.S.???
Was the Concept 1 the alternative that grabbed hold?? Or was it the Elite series??? What is your take?? Please advise. Thanks!!! (Sound a little corporate or what??

Attention Dial-a-Nap...

Guess where Ida found this gem. Do you recall the store with the Hoover logo in the window that we drove past on our little outing to retrieve my credit card? It looks like we should have taken a detour and checked it out. <br
Ida, <br
Congratulations on the great find. I can't believe that vacuum was just sitting there unsold for 20 years. I guess that just goes to show that there are many treasures still out there to be found. The vacuum fairies are definitely looking out for you. <br

Mike you make an excellent point. I too have a feeling that there are a lot more treasures out there just waiting to be found. Another example would be the rebuilt Electrolux G's that Fred found. We all just have to take the time to explore.

Serial Number

Is 0588 (May 1988?) Also Fred, the cord has become somewhat sticky from sitting in the cord reel so long. Any suggestions? I tried Dawn in and 409, but it still is a bit tacky. I'll drag out the tools from my other Innovation and take a pic. Aside from the complicated mechanism for the brushroll, its a nice machine and a good cleaner. I will track down replacement belts - it takes two different ones. Two of these machinese won cleaning competitions in St. Louis <br
PS. I almost had a case of the vapors when I walked in the door and saw that machine on display.

Fred...

With your great vacuum karma you should start carrying smelling salts with you. <br

Belts......

Hey Fre <br
They are still availiable over here- as are H4 bags in reusable or sealed high filtration variants- if you have any probs tracking them down let me know ; <br
