Congrats on the Innovation. You have really good luck finding these brand new machines...the 53, the floor washers, etc. I have one too and it really works well. I have to second the statement made by other Fred...watch the top of the handle and the release. I thought these were made at the Perivale plant. Can anyone confirm that? For your sticky cord situation, have you tried "Goof Off"? I have a polisher from the early 1960's that Buffalo Joe gave me some years back and it is still sticky. Joe even tried gasoline on it (outside of course) and nothing has worked. I am not sure what makes cords like this. Let us know if you can get it clean. I bet it runs great. I use "Z" bags in mine <br

Perivale........

Hi To <br
Sadly cleaner production at Perivale stopped in 1982- although the head office stayed till 1987. These were made in Scotland at the Cambuslang plant <br
On the subject of export machines at this time it was a 2 way thing :)- we sent you the Turbomaster/Innovation and you sent us the Turbolite/Elite <br
Seamus

Seamus.. <br
Seems that we got the better end of that deal! Those Elites are "ok" but nothing compared to our Innovation. Thanks for clarifying where they were built. <br

I Agree Tom!

We definitely got the better end of that deal. Here is the Innovation with the tools. Thanks to everyone who sent me the link for the Ebay auction for the new tool set. I actually got a set for the other Innovation I have. These machines have the Quadraflex agitator - hard to beat for carpet cleaning. Two of them won the cleaning competitions. The belts are a bit stretched out from sitting for 20 years but I was able to track some down. Seamus - I will be contacting you about the Air Freshener Discs <br

YAY for you Fred

So glad you found that, now it will be preserved for good!
Can't wait to see that in person too!

I had one of these, the electronic "total system" like Seamus had, lit up like a christmas tree it did..

Absolute monster too, you'd think it was self propelled but it was actually dragging itself across the floor with it's brushroll, even tough old Ian had trouble wrangling that particular gator ;p

I have to say I think the Turbomasters / Innovation's are one of the best Hoover's ever. Here in Australia we had two models the U5096 Electronic Total System and the U5094 Total System, I have both in the collection along with a U 5132 TM Freedom bagless a U4362 Softbag and a US Innovation Softbag. Here's some pics

on board tools

We had one on-board tools model in the US, can we have some more details on those please?

OK - I should have taken pictures

I changed the belts. Wow! This machine was not designed to have your average Mrs. Smith housewife change the belts. It takes strength and some engineering knowledge to get those d@$m things on. Finally did it. That machine now runs like new. Wait a second, it is new! I have a new appreciation for little Fred changing the belts on my other Innovation.

U5096

OMFG OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats the Hoover Turbomaster We had 1988 - 1996 how i never thought id see that model again especially in the colour we had it too!, I feel very emotional right now because it was the first vac at home I was ever able to use from the age of 6. Was sad to see it finally die after not really being used from Aug 1994 when we got our Dyson DC01, the turbomaster was used as a top up cleaner to use daily for minor spills etc.

If I could turn back time id of kept it and given it some love,

Thanks for the pic, you made my year!

Rob
