Actually.....

That blue color was used alot, in uprights and canisters as early as 1960, and as late as 1980. Your particular Roto-matic canister is from about 1962. It matched the 2nd and 3rd re issue of the model 260 upright.

And the flappy beater bar thing you are talking about is called the Vibra-Beat nozzle.

I remember that a Eureka Williams design document called that colour “Lagoon Blue.” The Eureka Super Automatic 260 we had in the early 1960’s was in that same colour. The blue was used across the Eureka line-up at the time, for everything from uprights and canisters to stick vacs and floor polishers.

Supposedly those nozzles were onlhy good at making noise, they did not clean anything but at the time it was Eureka's answer to a power nozzle. I'm also wondering if it used a Lamb motor. If you really want to improve its cleaning ability on carpets, get the Volt power nozzle, that would be an awesome combination.

ALL

Eurekas used Lamb motors, My take on the Vibra Beat is a little different on a thinner carpet they do pretty good at shaking loose sand and grit but on plush or shag useless, I have a Eureka 910 that was bought new in 1962 and it is the green that Eueka used for so long and white instead of the blue.
