Birthday self-gifting presents arriving at last...

Took a while due to weather but present #2 arrived today.

Not that I needed another Swiveltop but hey, it almost matches the GE Polisher, the paint's good, has the matching caster base and a couple of salmon plastic tools. Model VI3C-3 from 1956? The long hose turns out to be good with minimal suction loss. Black cord is cracked up toast so the seller sent along a reddish/pink extension cord. Nice cord but the color is just too wrong so I dug out a brownish red one with molded plug to consider that I had in the bin. For now it will remain cordless.

What's missing to make it a complete ensemble is the bag-top pink disc pan that seals to the swivel...and a salmon dusting brush & upholstery nozzle. And GE wands.

The only GE wands that fit I have are for the Roll-Easy but no...just no.

Speaking of the seller...

It was very securely packed and came from north eastern Michigan. Eric, did your Eureka ever arrive from the same seller? The one he broke the handle packing it, apologized for and had fixed? Thread 2981?

Also pictured is a Filter Queen Pow-R-Polisher I had to go out and find once I saw such a thing existed, thanks to Beerad.

Something else to be on the lookout for this weekend - GE wands.

Hey Dave the Eureka did arrive.. but it needs alot of work.. it is in my mother in law's garage along with most of my toys until I move.. Additionally my bf picked up a fun project for me.. He picked up an old electrolux floor polisher (three brushes) for 2.82 at a thrift store. He also picked up a Hoover convertible (missing the height adjustment and bulb for the head light) and a Eureka which I plan on repainting to psychodelic colors maybe even putting feathers on the bag hahaha I will call her Spring Cleaning Diva! Anyone else do that to a machine?

5 LX Electroluxes

Just a snap of my 5 LX's, one of which is a Metro rebuild. The three with cord winders are all different with the chrome one being the more common unit with raised letters. The hammertone ones are different from each other with the end one having the raised circle around the lux lettering. They all work very well and the 2 newer ones to the right have the clear plastic with red letter selectors and the other 3 are devoid of this feature. The Metro rebuild is a mix match of older and newer. It has the original bag ejector assembly but the newer side trim pieces painted hammertone blue. Also interestingly the Metro rebuild has the brain disabled with the plunger end sitting under the actuator. The bag ejector is frozen in place and was painted silver. Apparently Metro wasn't about to play around with these early fussy systems and took the easy way out.

Nice to have visual proof I'm not the only LX fanatic appreciater - who also embraces all the other vacuum styles and makes. LOL

Betcha that Metro un-baked paintjob comes off real fast in a Polystrippa bath (baked hammertone won't). Unless its a really fine example of Metro's refurbishment skills.

I need to find me a nice LX... preferably with the Red and Yellow nameplate!

They're such beautiful machines!

I've got a pretty beat-to-hell LX up in the attic. It's got the chrome nameplate... well, what was chrome before it tarnished and pitted. I use it with a 10' hose to vacuum out the cars. I've used it as my car vacuum for quite a while. Oddly enough, the ejector still works. Love making it eject!

LX's are functional Heavy Metal Sculpture.

The early one I started this thread about will makes it's re-debut soon...I'm doing my best to set up, pose and duplicate the color photo on the second page of the otherwise color sketch illustrated LX 1952 Users Manual.
