Good tight packing.
Felix absconds with a new plaything. Right after this pic he hopped in and started digging. Styro flying it looked as snowy in here as it is right now outside. LOL
I'll have to set this box out full of peanuts when I can have him play in it, under supervision of course.

After we cleaned up the peanuts with the Filter Queen Felix is eager to help unwrap the object. The hose passes the palm test with a resounding hollow whump.

And typewriters, too?!?! Those are some neat ones! I have a Coronamatic 2200, another Smith-Corona electric, and a Royal Mercury portable. No kidding; I just got through typing on the 2200 not 10 minutes ago!
Can't wait to see more on the vacuum! I bet it's a...newer Electrolux!

Yes Yes Yes, IT'S ANOTHER 1952 LX !!
I have one other colored logo LX but it has the plastic dial upgrade door.
This one begins and completes the LX collection lineup. Has the polished cord connecter cover and hose bezel as mentioned by Charles...and the key taped inside the cover door. I had asked the seller about these details and on his confirmation I 'needed' to have it. No one else was bidding, probably because of the lack of tools, caddy and the wrong hose.
Excellent condition, all it needs is the full Spa Holiday Makeover.

The bottom. Amazingly the runners aren't bent. No rust, dings, scratches or rips. Same for the cordwinder tho it's a bit askew - easy to set right. This one deserves a proper plug, I think. the cord is, again, excellent.
By the way, because I am often confused, which Electrolux models did this hose come with? because it's the first such hose in like new sucking condition so I should mate it up appropriatly.

or the 1205. It's that greenish blue color.
Don't have either of those models and the hose looks all wrong with the turquoise G you gave me. I think the L looks rather ungainly with the afterthought cordwinder but a blue 1205 would find a happy home here.

Typewriters!
I have a 1928 Underwood #5. I got it a few years ago after it had been sitting in a garage collecting grease, rust, and dust for 30 years. I partially dismantled it, and cleaned every moving joint with mineral spirits via a Q-tip or a small artist's paintbrush. I lubricated each moving joint with sewing machine oil. I had to sand down some rust and damage on the frame, but black lacquer makes for a nice, shiny finish. I even got some new decals, although I have yet to apply them. I put it back together again, fitted a new 1/2" ribbon and it is a joy to use. The action is so nicely balanced, there's a certain rhythm to using the Underwood that just can't be duplicated.

btw I too have several typewriters, maybe a half-dozen. Oldest: Royal "silent" office console model. Newest: IBM Selectric III.
Also have an assortment of mimeographs and spirit duplicators.

P.S.: I agree that that's a turquoise Model L hose. Yes, too dark to really match the light turquoise G, but goes nicely with the darker turquoise accents of the LX.

I love black cats and I have two that are biological brothers! They seem to almost be a breed of their own. There is common belief that blacks cats are crossed with Siamese cats which is how the black comes about! I also had a black cat when I was growing up and I miss him so much! I love dogs, too, but I am partial to cats. Nothing can come between me and my boys! It's so much fun getting a package as a result of an ebay purchase and opening it with "the mens" as I call them. They get so interested and nosy...I LOVE IT!

That is a really eye catching Model LX. You already have enough extras in stock to make a complete vacuuming ensemble, don't you? The cord reel is a curious but enchanting addition to the look.

Lou, sleek & sexy shorthair Hector is 11 years old now and it was his biobrother Dexter - black longhair - who died suddenly in November just as I was heading out on the road.
I have Pete and his sister to thank for finding Felix and socializing him until I got back from the Winter Grand Vacuum Tour down south of Lake Ontario and west to Moose Jaw Saskatchewan.
After the initial day or so of meeting, Hector mopes no more and these days both of them snooze & play together and join me on the couch for TV and on the bed as I read the bedtime novel. It's not easy to pet two cats with one hand so they've learned to lie side by side. Felix has VERY BIG PAWS for his tiny kitten head. Hector's overnight spot is beside the pillow while Felix likes to nuzzle under my neck or on top of my head. LOL Felix has a strong double pitch purr with a third 'chirp' on top when he's really content. They are both always there when I wake up at 7AM and if I try to sleep in I get stereo ear licks & nuzzle nudges in the face til I do.
Alan, I have only one LX without a cordwinder. Charles states that it was optional and I imagine when one was paying this much for a brand spankin' new freshly styled LX the chrome cordwinder was a must have. Later LX's got the Hammertone blue cordwinder.
A few months back when I got the LXI (is that a 'one' or an 'L') it came with two LX hoses, one saran and the other cloth weave. Guess which one is being paired with this one?
Rick, No matter how I squeeze, only 5 widebody LXs will fit on one floor of The Towers downstairs. This one is so pretty I think I will find a place for it separately here upstairs with a full compliment of accessories arrayed around it for gaze appeal. It has the lowest serial # of all my LXs - M68351P.
2nd inset coloured logo strip early LX has no dial, SN# N78381R.
The rest of the LXs have the all metal side strip.
SN# T05987R has the metal dial upgrade.
SN# T18020H has no dial. Escaped the upgrade?
SN# T77645K has the plastic dial. By this time standard issue?
SN# V86186R is the LXI with the plastic dial, wheels and side opening hammertone cordwinder.
Since the door and bottom plate are easy to remove with 3 bolts there's no certainty the machines are absolutely correct and even the dial-less ones can be considered suspect, I suppose, tho less likely.
I need two more LX toolcaddy saddles 'cause I have the tools for 'em.
I invite anyone with Electrolux LXs to post their serial numbers in this thread with identified variations according to Charles' excellent outline. Perhaps from this a timeline survey can be established for this handsome overly engineered dreadnaught bag-thrusting brute model.
Now to do a photo survey of the Typwriters...

The above photo makes me realize once again what a splendid design the front cover of the XXX is. it's such a dramatic, example of machine-age splendor isn't it! Its absolutely perfect proportions, balance of tension and relief and flowing shape give it an almost superhuman sort of beauty.
Saran hose on Dave's LX. I need one of those now. The design is so stately.
