I'm sure they scrub the carpet well, but how do you get the soapy water out of the rug? Do you have to use another machine?
What about the Hoover Floor-a-Matic? I always thought that those were pretty decent ... and what was particularly nice about them was that they'd clean up the soapy water by themselves so the user didn't have to deal with it!

A Hoover FAM (vac mode) 2 b used ON HARD FLOORS only NOT on carpet; but U can use it 4 shampooing carpets (use scrub mode ONLY--NEVER USE VAC MODE ON CARPETS/RUGS!) I gotta have a FAM! I heard they're good scrubbers but I've never tried 1; I've used only the Lux B-8 THEN mop dirty water from floor OR vacing it w/shop vac.

It's been fun, but...
Of course you do, fridgidvac, we don't doubt it for a moment. And you have a choice of a mythical gold B8 or a mythical aqua B8 which are no doubt standing either side of the mythical FQ, all surrounded by the legendary barn fire vacs in heaven.

My collections not as big as my childhood vac collection; that time I had a barn full of vacs, but now I have only a small amt of vacs due 2 lack of space. The rest of the vacs are at my parents' house (I hope they don't get rid of them b/c most r from b4 the 1970s) Only post-2000 vacs are my Ridgid shop vacs (1 SS tank & a few w/detach. blower) but the rest are before the 1980s (my bro took the 1983 E-broom)

I tried this one once I don't know how to use it & it didn't want to agitate the dry rug but it seemed to glide on the tile...

Mine's from late 1960s-early 1970s; my parents bought it new c. 1970, just a bit different from yours.
Maybe you're using the wrong brushes? Black brushes are 4 shampooing rugs & the tan brushs are 4 scrubing hard floors & waxing/polishing pads. Did U make sure the brushes snaped in correctly? Is the drive belt worn? After 35+ yrs of using our Lux, I'm surprised 2 see the belt's still in good shape (have never changed it)

Your machine didn't have shampoo tank like mine does, with yours U can just wet the rug with 8:1 diluted shampoo (1 part "foam-type" shampoo) & 8 parts WARM water by spraying with a spray bottle or mopping it in w/o scrubbing it in with mop (let the machine do the hard work)

Has a belt looked ok & one of the brushes has a metal collar in the middle so not sure if there is an order of putting in the brush heads.
It just didn;t have the power to agitate on the dry rug I could hardly make it move & it took alot of effort.
I gave up with it & was going to get rid of it as I can use a lux shampoo head or my rainbow but thought it would be nice to use a big strong machine to really get at the nap.

maybe its missing the rubber collar to set it uo above the rug?
maybe its just sinking too deep into the pile?

Soapy carpet....
That is how my Old Kenmore Carpet Scrubber is. You just have to work in the soap a lot then let it dry. I got it about 4 years ago and I was clueless on why it would not suck up the soap lol
