yesterday afternoon I had lunch with a friend before having to go DJ an event which started at 7, after lunch I figured " eh I have some time to kill and figured I would check out the rescue mission thrifty shopper and Sally Ann, once in a while I will find something good but something green caught my eye in the electronics section away from all of the plasti vacs it was a Hoover portable. looking at the price I was debating but for the steal of 8.99 I said to myself " eh why not" so up to the counter and in my vehicle it went. upon checking the unit out it runs EXTREMELY smooth and is almost 100% immaculate. no cracks in the hose, no tears in the cord, and complete I figured I did rather well!

Just a little advice

Might want to service the motor with new grease/oil. A lot of these end up dying off due to lack of/old lubrication.

My Portable almost bit the dust when I heard the motor slow down and screech and shut it off immediately after that. Thankfully I shut it down quickly and with some new lubricants I managed to save the original motor. Still runs great to this day!

sadly i gave it to a friend, I have too many machines as it is and being in a small 2 bedroom apartment with a room full of cleaners and sound equipment it is rather hard to make room, if I held onto it I would have completely gone through it. although it was a nice machine I got to use it for a few minutes and was pretty impressed with it, too bad they didn't add a power nozzle to it.

I totally do need a bigger place between vacuums and dj/ live sound equipment I hardly have room in the storage room to fit anymore! I forgot to mention that it is also my office for the business that I run. I think my next step is to buy a house, I am sick of renting lol, the hoover on the other hand went to another collector who has a vac shop, thankfully it will get the attention that it needs.

"....accidentally own 2 of the green ones, maybe 3..."

With 400+, I can see where this would happen.   I only have about 35, and am unsure on a how many Eurekas I have at the moment.

I had a portable way back in about 1980.  I picked it up on the curb (when I was 12) and it worked fine.  The only thing broke was the neck of the floor tool.  It was a brownish color and did not have the retractable cord, not as nice to look at as this slate version.

I have numerous "multiples"

of various vacs. Some were intentional, some....oops! I must go through some of them and thin them out.
Of course, the only thing better than a Convertible is.... 2 convertibles. For instance, I have 5 69s..... 'cause you never know............................ I can SEE eyes rolling right now.
