A couple of weeks ago, I was blessed to receive a great addition to my collection! Charlie Watrous had this listed on ebay, and the deal fell through. He knows of my Kirby, (not limited to), fetish, and asked if I had this model. It was the only sirocco trimmed model I didn't have..sooo...he graciously/generously sent it to me for a combo birthday/Christmas present, wouldn't even let me pay for shipping! Thanks again Charlie, it's most appreciated!

P.S. It also came packed with a Saladmaster Jet (believe unused) percolator, saweet! This box was packed so well, it would've survived an international shipping without a scratch! It took me about 15/20 min. to unpack everything!

P.S.S A shout out to H. Lawson for keeping the friendly skies friendly(well at least entertained!) [this post was last edited: 12/31/2015-11:12]

Congratulations! The 562, with its metallic copper-colored trim and white cord with brown plugs, is a rare specimen in the Kirby Kingdom. It was the only machine to be done up in those colors. I was right surprised when no one snatched up Charlie's machine on eBay.

See photos for comparisons of the 562 trim with the Sanitronic VII & D-50 trim. I've been dying to find a replacement for my 562's bag collar as mine has some green discoloration on it.

What a nice thing for Charlie to do. Such a great guy. BTW, Happy belated birthday, Rick! What a great gift.

I agree, that was a VERY nice thing for Charlie to do. That 562 is GORGEOUS! I have a 562 with a sirocco cord (probably from a D50) and I always wondered about the handle grip. Mine is sirocco, but I've seen a few that were a darker brown with gold flecks in it. Is that the correct grip for the 562?

Let me explain a few things about this particular Kirby. I purchased it complete in the box with ALL attachments in Illinois at a antique store for a friend. I opted not to keep the rug shampooer and original box.

The motor needed some work and the whole needed a good cleaning and buffing. It had the original dark metallic copper trim that Charles Lester mentions above. I decided to send it to Kirby for a rebuild as they do an incredible job. I took OFF the trim to replace it after it returned from Kirby. I did not send the bag topper, handle or cord.

It came back with the trim you see in the pics--a lighter tan trim used for the Sanitronic VII and D50. My intent was to replace the original trim. I was fortunate to find a correct bag at some point.

The rebuilt Kirby was given as a gift. After a number of years, it was given back to me and I eventually decided to sell it. The original trim was always with the machine but when it came back to me it got lost somewhere along the way.

So, the handle, bag topper and cord are correct. The tools/hose are all original as is the handi-butler and related parts. The headlight and bumper trim are new. The wheels are new. The bag is a CORRECT Kirby original replacement. The bottom of the sani-emptor and bag guard are new. All motor components were replaced by Kirby.

The original items do have gold flecks in them.
