Here's a nice Electrolux Model V from Portugal that ended for only $167.50. The international shipping was only US$45.00 which makes me think the seller is going to eat his hat on the shipping cost.

The first Model V that I sold quite a few years ago went for nearly a thousand dollars. Granted, it was in near-perfect condition, but this auction does seem to illustrate what I said in another posting about bids on vintage vacuums having "gone soft" over the past couple of years.

Wow......

unbelievable final price! Even dirty or missing something, it's a fantastic foundation piece to restore. Does seem like the big gun 'Holy Grail' units have gone "soft".

The trouble with this scenario is that it will most likely be destroyed by the various carriers before it reaches the buyer. The seller lost out and has absolutely no incentive to properly pack the vac for the long journey. If I were the buyer, I'd give specific packing instructions and offer to pay for his time etc for packing properly.

Sure...it comes broken and the buyer will get a full refund, but an important piece of vac history will be lost forever.

Lux Model V

Hello, It was me who purchased the Model V on E-bay. The seller hasn't shipped it yet, but I'm sure shipping it overseas will be expensive. Not sure if it even works, but it will be great to add to my collection.
