free standing central vacs
Like Tolivac, I use my central vacuum units free standing, I have 8 of them, it's awesome. Some machines have a utility valve built in and for those that don't, just attach a utility valve to the in-take, works great and you don't have to deal with pipes. Granted, you lose the benefit of the unit being in a different place but I have not found this to be a problem. All of my units use bags so no need to vent them outside. I have some laundry crystals in each bag so it actually smells pretty good. For electric nozzles, connect the hose to the machine and plug it in to a nearby outlet, I have two electric hoses, one is 35 feet and the other is 50 feet. There are even some central vac units that are designed to be used free standing without pipes.
