The foot pedal on my G6 fell out again and as I was repairing it I noticed that the bottom screw from the back cover wasn't connected to anything. See the attached pics. It looks like maybe the screw sheared off, but you can't see any sort of screw thread or opening of any kind on the backside of the motor frame.

I can't see how to re-attach the plastic cover. Are there threads in this motor frame that only go into it by a couple of millimeters? That seems like an awfully small amount of metal for threads to securely capture a screw. If they don't go all the way through the frame, then how do you prevent from over-tightening it?

It's tempting to just leave it as is and not even try to fix this, but that seems like a clumsy repair job.

That brass insert on the screw is supposed to be in the back plate that the pedal is a part of. If the pedal fell off and you took the unit apart, you may as well replace the pedal. The newer ones don't have a brass insert and they give you a coarse thread screw instead.
