I'm terrible at coming up with names

Thanks for your hard work Robert!!

Hey Guys, so this morning I created some quick logo mock ups using the possible names and colors you all picked from this thread. If I missed someone's suggestion when I went through this, I apologize let me know and I will create that too.

You guys came up with some great ideas!!!! The only problem I see with with the names is the congestion of the navigation bar at the top of the screen. The problem with some of these longer names is it going to be hard to squeeze a new forum circle into the space at the top with a really long multi-word name. Another thing to consider is the picture that we will have to pick out to go in the circle. A one word name would give more space in the circle for a larger picture.

So, just for an new example I came up with a forum named the Junior Forum. Now we don't have to use that name, but it looks nicer I think in the circle when we pick a one word name that doesn't have a lot of letters in it. Especially if we all decide on a dark logo with white letters as the text will need to fit within the circle, because if it extends out into the white area the edges of the text will disappear.

Oh and before I forget the patterned background makes the text way hard to read, so we should probably stick to solid colors.

So do you guys like these colors? I like the dark purple, but I think if we use it we will have to come up with a one word name.

Keep the ideas coming guys, this is fun. And I'll continue making mock ups when I get some free time.

The dark purple looks neat. Silver is my second choice.
I like the "Other cool stuff" personally, for the name.

After actually seeing the colours all together, I have to say that I like Alex's bright blue the best. Still not sure on any ideas for a name though.

Daniel :-)

sorry I'm late to the party!

#1 June 22, 1995 (so I wont be a youth for too much longer haha)
#2 anything Miele
#3 a perfect fantom lightning with all the extras
#4 I like the young elites idea!
#5 the silver option is my favorite

Thanks for all your hard work to make this site awesome Robert!

Myles I think you might be onto something. This works really well because it is a small one word name that can fit easily in the small circle in the Navigation bar at the top.

Do any of you guys have any other one word names you'd like to try?

I know this doesn't really concern me, but....

I like the "Junior" one word name as it is kind of a pun, Junior being like the Hoover "Junior" and Junior being cause they are younger.
If that is what you were already implying... :P Just a thought though.

OK so it sounds like you guys are warming up to the idea of calling it the Junior Forum, like the Hoover Junior.

We don't have to use the Hoover Junior Vacuum as the image in the logo, I just threw that out there. David I have no idea what a Kriby 505 looks like. If someone has a good color picture of that machine that can be posted here I can cut it out of there if the machine is well lit and in a position that would be conducive of using it in the dot.

Also if you guys have other ideas for the image please share it! :-)

so i know this may be a little to much work and im sorry if i sound cheeky or rude, but how about you call the youth thread juniors as in hoover junior and the miscellanea be called seniors as in the hoover senior therefore clearly differentiating between the age groups its meant for, this is not me calling the people in the above youth age old

YAY!

This is great, it looks like we're coming to a consensus. I will redo the logo as that was just a rough draft. Then I can get started on the programming work even though we have 39 days before it goes into place.

Thank you again for the great posts, I really appreciate the effort. You guys definitely deserve a spot of your own here on Vacuumland and I will see that we get this done.

Michael (thekirbylover) and Jake, it would be way to much work at this point to redo Miscellanea and it's logos, but I will change the text of the forum so it makes it obvious of what is is. Thank you guys for the suggestion though.

OK Guys, round one of the changes to create Junior Vacuumland memberships is completed and I moved the changes into the live website now.

So if you are one of the 17 underage members who reported your birthday to me, you will see the following:

#1 The GREEN Upgraded Member Star next to your name will now be a PURPLE Upgraded Junior Member Star Now on the information bar in the threads.

#2 If you look at your upgrade days count in the upper right hand corner, this will reflect the number of days left until your 18th birthday.

So if I've missed any underage members, please let me know.

Also this was a relatively major change so Adults and Junior Members alike please be on the lookout for possible bugs that this might have caused.

Thanks everyone! Next when I get time, I'll work on round 2 which is creating the new Forum.

Robert...

Those of us who are over 17 (me) who will not be able to access it, is it ok with you if you show us a screen shot of what it looks like when you have it all complete?

Thanks,
Alex.

My name is Andrew

My birthday is April 14, 1999
My favorite machines are any from the Hoover Elite series and Sanitaire's
My dream machine would be an original Elite from the late 80's or any old but in good condition Sanitaire from the 70's
A color I would like is red, blue, or green
A cool name like the ones stated above would be Junior or anything like that
Thanks and sorry that I was a little late in posting!! :)
