As you requested Sandy i did a cleaning comparison between the Stock Tristar Nozzle and the Lindhaus PB14 using the pre-existing dirt hair brushed off my cats and litter for grit. I distributed the litter as best as possible then ground it. After both nozzles were used with clean bags i then took the Fantom Cyclone XT to see what was left behind by either, i'm dissapointed in how much either of them left behind honestly but i have a feeling i could still draw more out.

The bag on the left is with the lindhaus and on the right the Tristar

@blackheart . . .

I'm glad you did the test but I don't think that it's all about one session but more. If you check the base of carpet fibers in high traffic areas and entryways and you only see minute or insignificant amounts of dirt and grit, life's wonderful. It means that you're vacuuming enough and whatever your using works well enough.

The whole idea is not only to clean for the sake of the look of things but to remove substances that can promote carpet wear. From the near equal amount of test material you pulled up, it's more about a tie than a loss.

The only thing that I know of that can render a really dirty carpet clean with one use is a bulldozer.

Looks Like....

....Something of a tie, with more ending up in the bag when the TriStar PN was used, but more ending up on the plate, as well.

I haven't ever used a Lindhaus PN, so I don't really have a feel for them. I can say the stock TriStar PN has done a great job for me. In my previous house, I had off-white carpet * and the TriStar extended the time between steam-cleanings pretty dramatically.

* If you ever feel like having off-white carpet installed, do yourself a favor. Take all your money out of your bank account, pile it up in the back yard, and then set fire to it. This is much less work than keeping white carpet clean, and the expense is about the same.

And Of Course:

Many thanks for going to all the trouble of making the comparison, and of photographing it!

Thanks for doing the test. Very enlightening. Hard to say long term which really is the better PN. Looks like a tie in this test, though.

I went back and looked for discussion of Lindhaus PNs as I recall reading some less than flattering opinions of them somewhere on this forum. I found the thread. It was actually a discussion concerning the Lindhaus PN that came standard with the Miracle Mate vacuum. I'm not sure if it's the same one you're using here or not. Most of the negative opinion revolved around the single row chevron brushroll and it's lack of deep cleaning ability. Most preferred the Edgelift PN which replaced the Lindhaus on the Miracle Mate.

What does this test say about the cleaning ability of the Fantom compared to the Tristar using either the Lindhaus or Tristar PN? Is the Fantom that good? Or is the Tristar that bad? It's shocking and interesting to see the Fantom pull so much grit out given the good reputation of the Tristar.

..

My opinion is that the lindhaus did slightly better it's hard to see how much was picked up by looking at the bag because of the angle of the shot i used a close to equal amount of litter on either side, but if you look carefully at the 2nd picture you can see more fine dust. Out of curiosity i also went over the area again with the lindhaus to see if any more would come up.

The lindhaus does have only one row of brushes, but despite that i think it does a pretty good cleaning and an excellent job grooming it pulled up the flattened sample carpet i had brought along to the shop just as well as the wessel werk EBK360

As for the fantom it's a decent machine. i also went over the area slower with it to get out as much as possible, when doing a test i use the fantom because the results are easier to measure and the performance level always seems about the same.

Oh here's the what the lindhaus picked up after the Fantom i just got curious and wanted to see if it could draw any more out

TriStar CXL & Power Nozzle

Pair a Eureka Express PN (w/VGIII brush roller) with a TriStar & it'll be UNBEATABLE! :)

Then steam clean the ENTIRE carpet with a XXX Steam Master or Bissell Big Green.
