Argos Value Bagless Vac

A friend needed a vac, hers was rubbish so I had a look on ebay

99p later, and a 2 minute drive to pick it up she had a brand new in box Argos Bagless Upright vac!

It feels like a toy, my daughter can pull it over unlike a turbopower, but I'll give it it's due it's not too bad! OK suction, a good grooming action from the quite stiff brushroll and it feels ok to use.

Hose is comical, as is the crevice tool. Filters look cheap, and have already started to lint up after I pushed it around our flat earlier, so imagine it will be a pain to empty and clean but meh - 99p! She could use it until it fills up then bin it for that price!

What it picked up after a quick pusharound. Not too bad considering the missus (prob explains it) went round with the Miele in a bout of out of character-ness a few days ago! It is a screamer though (the vac...)

The turbo tool is pretty pants, even a drop of oil will only help it so much!

The problem with those type is that the central filter gets clogged up very quickly and most people cant be arsed cleaning it every time they use the vac, so these type of bagless models end up burning out their motors very fast indeed due to lack of airflow through the central filter. Looks like its made by Vax for Argos, or possibly Bush?
If she's prepared (the friend not the baby) to keep cleaning the central filter each time she empties the bin, it should last the distance - if not, then it'll end up dumped mighty quickly due to lack of suction.
Its OK for a quid though lol

I had one of these, it was very tough!! I didn't like it much though it is very powerful but hard to push and the hose- well, what can I say about that???

Bush never make their own vacuums - they're always using someone elses. The Argos VU-101 is based on Vax's "Essentials" VEU-101. I had both Argos versions but much prefer the bagged upright. Bush had a red one, the BU-202 based on the bagged Argos Vax but came with a pet hair tool on the front of the handle.

Handy info for any parts etc. Generally speaking, I never had a motor burn out on me - but then I cleaned the bagless paper cone filter out with a dry paint brush often. Uses 32mm tools so you can use any old ones lying around for stretch etc.

Yes sebo_fan, I much prefer the look of the red bagged version - and its a better bet for those who don't want to bother maintaining filters, just change the bag when suction dies off.
Most bagless cleaners now need filter replacements every so often, even so called washable lifetime filters disintegrate eventually when washed frequently, and they are quite expensive to buy as well, so defeats the point of a bagless vac, as you end up buying filters, which can actually cost more than a pack of 10 bags.
My Vax power 6 pet canister says I should replace the filters every year, at a cost of nearly £20 for the 2 - yeah, right!
How can Vax justify charging that much for filters - I wouldn't spend that much on bags over a year.
Either way now it seems, the manufacturers want to screw every penny out of us!

I had a Proline UVC 18 (my profile pis RRP £90 from comet, I got it for £15 from a Carboot sale in Birmingham, West Midlands, it was well worth it but louder than my DC07!!! bloody hell

Lol - I didn't think there was anything louder than a DC07 - but then the DC07 has superb suction power to make up for the noise.
The problem with these cheap bagless vacs is that they make a lot of noise, but clog quickly and then lose suction and make even more noise as the motor strains to pull the air through the thickly clogged cone filters.

Yep, it would be 100% better if it were bagged! Still, its about to meet its death with its new owner tomorrow, and hopefully I'll get some pictures

Whoah, don't think bagged uprights are any quieter - some are - but cue the Orecks!

My Miele S7 is very quiet and refined in operation, and you could hardly say that a Sebo X4 is ear splitting like a DC07. The Hoover Senior and Junior aint that noisy either, and the Electrolux 560 is very quiet on lower power.
Most uprights that you can vary the power on can be made to work very quietly indeed (although there aint that many about any more)

Im referring to modern uprights - the older ones you state are lower motor power anyway.

Also I don't know any other modern bagged upright other than Miele that offers variable suction with high power on board (1800 watts) compared to the 1300 watts of the Sebo Felix - and I'm sure on the top level, the noise from the Miele isn't quiet.
