VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I could understand

that if I was such a nasty person that I wouldnt have quite the number of REAL TRUE friends I have.

Sure I've had my moments on this forum but then I know everyone does.

What I dont get is that if I was such a vile bile spewer why 25 odd people turned up at my home last weekend to a, come and see us and b. have a great time with me.

Lets have a definition of rude....

I invited Steve to visit me when I lived near him and on the morning he was due I went off to the local shops and bought in a fresh cake and milk, biscuits and some lunch goodies. Not a fortune but things I perhaps wouldnt of bought given i'd invited him over for the day.

Given I was at the shops I didnt exactly have my laptop on early morning and when I got home I set about checking some cleaners to make sure they were ready to use.

Time came for Steve to arrive and when he didnt left it a while before sending a text to make sure he was ok. No answer.

It went for a few hours until I got a text saying he wasnt coming and that he'd emailed me at 6am that morning to explain why.

Now I dont begrudge anyone earning aliving but the excuse that "I was up all night fixing a Dyson to sell" isnt that great an excuse especially given that if Steve was so short of cash he could of text a day or 2 before letting me down.

Also If he didnt fancy coming over for whatever reason then why not say?

The fact he hasnt met me in person means that his assumptions about me are based purely on whats been said here on this forum. Granted some things come across not the way intended.

Steve block me, ignore me do whatever. Your loss is nobodys but your own.

Well I haven't had any reaction from any other member, Steve. Just you.

May I remind you that this is a public forum. YOU are not a moderator. YOU are not in charge and YOU don't speak for the 100s of UK collectors who either choose to use this forum or join another.

Until you get that right to retain an administrator seat on this forum, then perhaps you should pipe down.

Thanks Chris.

Joe? I think your getting your J's confused! It's Jacob!

I didn't really want to get involved with it all, but as I said, I didn't want to see this forum turn into a mess of arguments.

I didn't think you Chris, or Nar or Rob were trying to be rude whilst talking to Steve, just being honest. But that is just my opinion.

I just don't understand where Steve gets this from, from his above post.  '<a name="start_25305.284347"></a>There was no verbal abuse before Turbo500 came on and deliberately attempted to cause another argument. Rob then came on and sided with Chris, as they are both members of the same Facebook Vacuum Collectors group. Nar has been deliberately trying to kill off participation of UK members on VL for a couple of months now.'

I know neither of those three above, Chris, Nar or Rob, have been verbally abusive. Fact.

No offence Steve, but neither of those three have been verbally abusive.

As to carry on from what suctior (sorry I don't know your name) I have noticed increased conflict over the past few months. I'm not siding with anyone here but VL used to be a nice place with lovely forum members. But this is a forum, of course, where different opinions clash, but they seem to be taking over.

Both madabouthoovers & Turbo500 helped me when I needed it (& that wasn't about vacuum cleaners) so I know that you two can get along, but as suctior has said, we should all try to be civil despite our different opinions.

Sebo_fan - Who started all this off again? Chris posted what I regarded as a very rude response towards me, to which I told him I was blocking his posts. Then Rob Stubbs posted in a very rude and personal way towards me, then you came in to wield the axe at me. Before Chris, Rob and yourself started the nastiness, this thread was perfectly civil. All 3 of you don't like me, OK, but you just cant wait for any excuse to lay into me, and that's been simmering away for months now. If you don't like what I post - hide my posts, or stay posting in your Facebook group, where I'm not welcome.

In a previous thread you blocked Kirbyloverdan, of whom has FAR more vacuums than you have and only put across an opinion you didn't like.

Kirbyloverdan is one of the most respected members on this site and yes, him and I have had previous disagreements over certain brands - but I give the guy the time of day and I respect his opinions. I don't keep going on at the wound to get my point across.

As I said before - The blocking feature was added to VL for that very reason - to hide posts from members whose style you don't like. I didn't like his style, nor the way he spoke to me, showing total disrespect, and I'm not bothered how much money or how many vacs he has.

Furthermore, blocking everyone on here will allow your opinions on posts to be seen and not anyone elses. That's really quite stupid and pointless. Particularly when you are seeking opinions in the first place.

I have never disliked a member since I have been a member of this forum and I was here before you. Chris and Rob were also members on this forum since 2007.

I have disputes with members off here where opinions are concerned. I think I am allowed that and so are you. But I don't block a member because of a mere disagreement unless it gets abusive.

However, what has been simmering for months now is your repeated attempts to get your point across. If you don't like it, to hell with anyone else. You personally may feel that people hate you, but I don't think you've helped yourself, there, Steve.

I haven't blocked everyone. I have very few people on my hidden members list. I hide the posts of those people who I see as just downright rude or those who post nonsense. I wont argue with Chris or Rob Stubbs any more. I've had enough of them, which is why I blocked them. Most people here are polite and respectful, as I am, until someone crosses me, and I wont tolerate it any more.

I respect people like John Long who doesn't shove what he owns in my face, and he is pleasant and polite, even though he owns hundreds of vacuums. He is a model member on VL. He has never once been rude to me, and I respect his vast knowledge. That's the difference.
