That's not from a Kirby, it's from a Hoover Concept One. Early 80's or late 70's if I'm not mistaken. Someone else will have to give you model number and actual dates of production.

Uprights aren't my thing. All that came to mind for me was Kirby, but the facts are in the photos.

The bag, shown at the top, came in a box of vacuum parts I recently received. The parts I can't use I'm selling on for those who can use them.

I see you're location is St. Paul - yet the auction location is Pewaukee, WI. This was a point of contention in a recent thread - just want to make sure you don't get raked over the coals for misrepresenting your location (you know, shipping costs, etc...)

I'm not an expert on what parts are worth. I can and will lower prices if it doesn't sell. I'm certainly not planning to retire on it.
I thought it more important that it go to someone who can use it. It is antique, 35-40 years old.
If someone wants to pick up in Minneapolis area, I'm happy to coordinate.

Well, for me personally - face value, it tastes a bit like you're taking advantage of the members of this site. Purposely starting a thread about a Kirby part, when you knew it wasn't, so you could glean information to basically write your eBay listing. Maybe I'm the only one thinking it, maybe not. But that's my opinion, and the last I'm going to say on the matter. Just food for thought to keep in mind as you engage on this site.

I can see where one might think one could be "taking advantage" of peoples knowledge, but isn't that what we do in a place like this? We learn, we teach, we share ideas. I guess it depends on ones definition of "taking advantage".
To me, the definition of that is what one would see as a one way street. Clearly, that does not apply to me. I share ideas and help people where I can, not expecting anything in return. Anyone can review my responses and see that's the case.
Also, I'm not the only one here that has sold parts or vacuums, including yourself. I've also bought vacs and parts from members here. There is certainly nothing wrong with that.

I stated clearly in the thread above that I'm (almost ashamedly) not an expert on Uprights. They hold no interest for me. Based on what little I recognized of the part, the first thing that came to mind was it's Kirby. Then I thought I'd ask what genre' it is. I was completely surprised to find it wasn't even a Kirby. If I had no idea, I could have asked the question 'Does anyone know what this is?' and probably got the same responses.
Even though the part is meaningless to me, I know there are people who would appreciate it. I fully respect that. Labeling the item correctly will make it possible for people to find it If I could identify products that will help others, I do that very same thing, such as I did this morning about the Electrolux. People helped me, I help others. Surely, your not suggesting there is a problem with that.

To shoppers on Ebay, who are not connected with AW or VL, it's a non-issue. I ship from Pewaukee, at my parents house. I have been spending quite a bit of time taking care of them recently. Both of them have been in and out of the hospital, and I'm getting to the point where I'm afraid to leave them home alone. I would love to be spending more time in MN, but until things get sorted here.....
So I'm back and forth between MN and WI.

Yes, this site is a great venue for gaining knowledge, I'm not denying that at all.
Based on your age displayed in your profile, I had assumed that you would recognize a Concept One bag, as I would again assume that you remember them being in the stores being sold new.
Also, having seen your posts in this thread and this thread that both have to do with Hoover Concepts - even containing photos of machines that use the bag you're selling, again, I assumed you were either calling it a Kirby part in a 'tongue and cheek' way, or in a way that would bring people into the thread to call your bluff, and provide all of the information you needed.
You also seem to have a pretty good working knowledge of Hoover items; I guess I never noticed it was limited to canister machines.

Based on my age I suppose I SHOULD know, but NO, I don't know and don't remember. I can crisply remember various canisters on display back in the early 80s, like at Sears, Farm and Fleet, and JCPenny, but the uprights are just a glob of gobbledy-goop (sorry if I spelled wrong) nothingness.
Even today, when paging through the ever treasured, and highly cherished, vacuum cleaner bible- THE SEARS CATALOG, the pages with those uprights just gets ignored. Older uprights are filthy beasts. Imagine my disgust when only a few months ago, I learned that Hoover cross-named vacuums that are canisters. A Hoover Sprint is a canister, same with Dimension. I was surprised there is also an upright version. Its bad enough that the uprights use some of the same attachments like dusting tools. lol.
Out of all the vacuums I've had over the years, I've never attained a single motor upright older than year 2004. If I ever do and it's not to resell it, it will be to part it out. I make an exception for the Electrolux uprights which are 2 motors and really just a canister vac with power nozzle micro'd down to a single unit.
Frankly, back in the day, I did not like Uprights. As a child, I was scared of them. I had several bad experiences that all involved Uprights. Like in the movie Mr. Mom, that FrankenKirby, cyclops "Jaws" sums up the way uprights were, and of that genre' still are, perceived. lol.
Of those 2 threads you noted, one I admitted to not knowing Uprights and stated that I saw something that looked like what was being discussed and asked if I could help others to attain it. The other one we were talking vac colors, and I mentioned the Canisters that were painted the same slate green.
They don't scare me anymore, I just know they are not my thing. I appreciate there are people who do like them, though. And there are no doubt people with the same level of disgust toward canisters. Each to their own.

Oh, and for the record- I'm not a practical jokester looking to lure people in to make fun of them. I do however like to be snarky, and I encourage snark. If there were a political candidate running on a platform of greatly increasing snark, I would contribute.
