Anyone Have Some Info On this Brand?

Recently I've been in the market for a brand new "daily driver" upright vacuum. After a bit of searching around for all the features, I want on it I found an amazon listing for this Prolux vacuum. I've literally never heard of this brand before and can't figure out if it is owned by someone or independent. This vac has everything I want on an upright and seems of good quality but I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the brand/this particular vacuum before I bite the bullet.

Looks like a pretty solid machine, actually looks to be Tacony made and has the looks of the riccar 8900 series to a degree. I’d say for the price, you can’t go wrong but before you do that, there are a few members here who own vacuum stores, like Tom Gasko for example. Give him a call @ mid Missouri Vacuum, and maybe he has something else that will suit you.

I actually researched and figured out who makes it. The company great vacs I'm sure you've heard of them. There out of salt lake Utah. They have a few vacuums. There reviews seem good.

It's a knock-off of the Cirrus uprights. ProLux (great vacs dot com) controls the repair parts, so getting it fixed would be difficult at best.

Great Vacs (The Ebay Vacuum shop) makes these? HUH?
I could have sworn someone told me that Essco makes these. I know they make Cirrus (I own a Cirrus and LOVE IT). I almost got a Prolux but I was told they were somewhat cheaper construction. But they look freaking IDENTICAL almost to my Cirrus

Great Vacs doesn't make anything. The Chinese make them. Great Vacs just had enough money to buy pallets of them, private labeled as Pro Lux.

Yeah, no idea on this brand - but based on their trademark information - the Prolux name, as well as the GreatVacs website is owned by a LLC called "Rocky Mountain Vacuum Brokers" out of Jordan Utah. They, in turn, are owned by a CEO named Robert Kelley out of Missouri, who owns "The Avad Group" which is a licensing and patent rights legal office. It looks like ProLux came about fairly recently, first use in commerce was 1/1/2013.

I'm sure the vacuum is a great vacuum - but not because of the company that made it - but because it's a watered down homologation of vacuums that came before.

It looks like a Kenmore Intuition, a NSS Pacer, and a Riccar upright had a baby.

I was actually trying to decide between cirrus and this, Only reason I was leaning to the Prolux was that I had heard on a few accounts about cirrus had some pretty horrendous build quality on some units.

The Cirrus line are the direct replacements of the Evolution Prestige line, also known as Bernina, Morse, etc. They're about three times the improvement over their predecessor line. I would much rather have a Cirrus anyday over a Prolux.

Prolux company website sells the vacuum. The vacuum is linked to great vacs. If great vacs doesn't make it then someone makes it for them and it's a rebranded vac for great vacs.
It's similar to cirrus. It is sold in great vacs web site and there rocky mountain website. The Amazon seller is rocky mountain company.
If it's not made it most definitely sold as a house vac for great vacs/rocky mountain company.
Is there a vacuum made in the usa?

My Cirrus

Is a Cr-75 or 79 (I always forget the exact #) It's green. It's going on 3 years old. I find it to be a really sturdy vacuum. I have zero issues with the build quality. I remember ALMOST getting a Prolux but ended up getting the Cirrus. The HEPA bags are great and last a LONG time. I've changed the belt twice. You must get in the habit of not picking the vacuum up by the handle but instead by the top of the bag chamber handle instead. I was warned about that before buying it. I've read some bad reviews about the handle breaking because people carry it by the handle. One other thing, on the bottom metal plate there is a built in Squeegee and over time, that will wear down. I don't care because when I vacuum hard floors, I just park the vacuum and take the hose out and connect it to a 12 foot universal extension hose I bought with it for above floor and hard floors. I never even touch the tools that came with the machine. I just use the ones that came with the extension hose. They are so much better.

Anytime I've seen these things at trade shows they've always felt cheap and poorly constructed. Even compared to some of the tacony products.

And by incorporating 'lux into their name, they wouldn't be trying to sow brand confusion with those other vacuums that use the 'lux suffix, would they? Nah, they wouldn't do that. It wouldn't be ethical and we know companies don't do unethical things, right?

Les, there is indeed a brand of vacuum still made in USA and that would be Kirby.

They are built in the usa. They use globally sourced parts.
My comment was more a broad spectrum.
I'm betting central vacuums are built in US

@human You bring up a really good point if somebody's willing to name their company and products with a confusing name they're probably not much ethics behind the company.
