The saturation isn't as heavy as a conventional electric carpet washer. All you're doing is effectively rubbing foam across a carpet. I've tried this approach with £1 male shaving foam - and it is just as effective as the similar Bissell carpet foam you can buy at far more expense.

Bissell washer
Hi. I am a newbie so please excuse any faux pas. I bought one of these about 20 years ago at a car boot sale and the switch broke. I don't suppose you would be interested in selling it to me as I have rhematoid arthritis and am not very good at anything heavy. Or I could do a swap for something if you suggest something I have got and don't use.

Benny, I LOVE Ever Decreasing Circles!! I have the boxsett on DVD. It's very very cleverly written.
I believe the Bryce's (Anne and Martin) had a Goblin Housemaid hardbag and then a Hitachi CV50D (as shown on the kitchen table in the episode you linked to).
Here is a quick video of the Bissel Spinfoamer in action. This was the electric model with rotating bristles to sweep the foam through the carpet pile. Not very effective, but does ok. Same method that a Kirby uses.

Just wondering what model you have? This one doesn't have a switch unless you mean the solution release trigger

Yes it was just a switch to release the solution - I think trigger would have been a better word. Thanks for the reply. Is it working do you know? I am not sure how it works on here, came across it by chance. At present we have an orange vax which we had to buy in a hurry 4 years ago when we came home from work to find the house flooded! I can't use it as I find it too heavy and have been looking for one just like the one you have - orange/white as that's how I remember it. Hope to hear from you soon. Haven't had time to read the rules so don't know if one is allowed to buy or sell or offer something you might want?
In any case, at least I know there are some still around. I notice a chap further down also has one. Had to email him direct (know that is against the rules, did get that far) but couldn't work out how to contact him.

I am sorry I emailed you yesterday but I am totally baffled as to how to contact you. I managed to contact the starter of this thread somehow and asked her if she would be willing to sell it and am just asking you the same thing. Sorry if I am out of order and I apologise profoundly for sending you an email. It probably went in your Junk email folder anyway. You are obviously a collector and probably don't wish to part with it but I would actually use it if the foam rollers were OK. Please don't be offended if I have broken the rules it's just that I have been looking for one for ages and could not believe I had come across this site with 2!

i remember
having one of these when i was growing up back in the 60s it got well used and as i recall it worked very well i remember my mum using it for the first time on the hall carpet and distinctly remember seeing a clean strip where this rhing had been considering all that elaborate paraphenalia you have to strap onto a Kirby to do the same thing this thing is much better dont get me wrong i love Kirbys but the carpet cleaner is a complete waste of time
