About 5 min from my office is a vac shop that has been in business since the early 70s, I have gotten a couple of NOS machines from him in the past and for the price I couldn’t complain. So upon speaking with the owner of the shop he has a “plan” and is closing his doors sometime In the very near future so upon looking around the small space there were 2 vacs with the “doll covers” over them. One a hoover U7037 and the other a grey self propelled F&G Eureka. Now I have a soft spot for the streamlined look of the older Hoover’s and happen to love the designs of the 60,61,913,918 etc... so $75 later the U7037 came home with me and I must say that this is the most I have EVER paid for a used vintage vacuum!
The machine has been serviced 15 years ago and has been sitting covered since then. Upon getting it home it obviously needed a new belt due to the one on it being dried out and stretched and after 15 years of sitting that’s understandable. The motor on the unit runs extremely smooth and is very quiet and surprisingly for a 3.5 amp motor it’s pretty powerful. By looking at the machine it’s also obvious that it pretty low miles and it has been cared for. It will be joining my 913 in my collection.
