When I was a child in the 60s my aunt had a blue Sunbeam canister, when she got it I dont know but it was not but a few years old when she bought a tan G Electrolux in 67,anyway, She would let me play with the Sunbeam, I never thought I would see another one but Jimmy Martin had one...and now I have it,i think it probably is a 65 or 66 model but im not sure, I need to take it apart and replace the ball bearing as it is noisy, but really powerful, just as I remember.

I have always loved the attachments on these classic Sunbeam canisters from the 1960's. Sleek designs and smooth lines. Wheels on a carpet nozzle are essential to allow you to glide the nozzle over carpet and let the suction and bristles do the work - as many contemporary carpet nozzles do, including those that come with Mieles. The neck allows you to go flat under beds.

And what about that nifty design for the upholstery nozzle? Several narrow suction slots cut into a stainless steel shoe combined with a front end row of bristles to dig out dust and dirt in the back joints of upholstered furniture. I wonder if the whole concept worked well and actually cleaned upholstery well.

Never played with one, but it's great to know that these Sunbeams have a reputation for relatively high suction!

I am beginning to think that my second obsession after Eureka vacs is really Sunbeam! Love the Courier and the Challenger as well!

I'll tell you what, the Sunbeam Dual Deluxe is the most powerful canister vacuum I've ever seen, next to the Apex Strato. Those things would blow people's fuses when they started up. Very powerful suction.

Sunbeam

I will always have a special spot in my heart for Sunbeams. My very first job was at a store that only sold Sunbeams. We sold a lot of canisters and electric brooms, but not too many uprights. I was still working there when Sunbeam dropped their vac line. They were built sturdy, and never had problems with them. I still work in retail, and you would not believe the returns on vacs. IT is by far the most problematic item in my large dept. They just don't make them like they used to.

"Another Vacuum I remember found!"

Did you mean, "Another Vacuum I remember, found!"?

Without the comma, it means that you remember another vacuum being found, not that you found another vacuum that you remember.

I was just.....

....teasing you to see how you might react. You just happened to be a random target for my light-hearted criticism. I hope I didn't make an enemy out of you. Nobody's perfect...especially me!
