Heres another one i've been cleaning up for a friend after many years of being in a garage. Again it was fairly grubby but has cleaned up ok. Sadly it's missing it's original bag.

I plugged it in earlier to give it a run, it powered up for about a second then died and won't come back on. Any ideas? The fuse in the plug is fine and I don't think the suppressor has gone, there was no pop or smell of burning.

My goodness, what a difference. Very well done. Loss of power could be so many things. Check for loose connections in the mains lead and also the secondary lead from the terminal block on the back of the handle which runs down to the motor. If you tilt the handle back, you can see through the gap in the motor hood that this cable I speak to you about is attached to the pitchfork and moves up & down with the handle. It is actually a plastic tube with two wires inside and there is every chance that the tube has split right through. You will need to replace it with an ordinary length of flex to be on the safe side, but that will almost certainly require some soldering as the original wires have space connectors on the end.

You may find the carbon brushes are stuck. Some times the on/off switch is jammed on this model. Whatever it is, it should be easy to put right as there are still a good deal of Seniors around to take parts from.

It is a headlight but It was originally from Italy this one, hence the lil flower logo on the front as opposed to the royal crest. I'll have a fiddle with it tomorrow and see if I can get it going again, it must be something silly

Wow! the powerplus is one of my favourite convertibles and for us EU guys it was the last one in practice. I like much the sits sound and the beating/brushing action is excellent. unfortunately poo is the handle grip. The top is the commercial C 1300. However I'm looking for the pictures of mine. Greetings, tommy.

well as predicted the problem was a stuck carbon. They were quite low anyway so i replaced them while I was at it

That's great Ryan! It looks brilliant, I wouldn't want to give it back, ha ha!

Where did it scale in terms of production years with the Ranger cleaners ?

The Powerplus style senior came in about 1979. This white one was the very last, dating from around 1984 and lasted until the Turbomaster arrived in 1986. There was also a burgundy model which had the dust cup rather than the regular bag set up.

Thank you very much for posting those pictures!

The Powerplus really does look like a great cleaner and I can totally believe they were made to last, unlike modern pieces of... Well, you know my sentiments I'm sure!

Hi

Hi Ryan.
You have done a good job of cleaning up the vacs in you recent threads.
I like the white Hoover power plus. The only burgundy model power plus I've seen in person was many years ago in a second hand shop on holiday. The strange thing I remember about it now was it did not have a dust cup bag it had a regular burgandy bag with the Hoover logo on it. Never seen one since. I wonder if that was a exclusive model???

Same for my step mum's mother. She had a green Hoover Turbopower like the U2332 but with autoflex! Never seen one of those since either. I used it a few times when we went over to visit in the late 80s very early 90s. I know it broke and was replace years ago so I can't even see what model it was.
