Fred...

That is the exact same one I have. Exactly the same! Only mine doesn't have the power nozzle, it has all white tools, the hose is quite a bit different, yours has a serial number plate on front, the box it came in is red, mine is brown, and the manual is different. Other than that - it's the exact same machine!!!! Congratulations!

Lube

Fred, do you use sewing machine oil to lube a brush roll? I've used that on an old Lux power nozzle and it seems ok. But I don't use it that much either. BTW, the guy finally emailed me and I have a green one coming sans the power nozzle! YEAH!!!

Hey Bill

I use either sewing machine oil or 3-1. I like WD-40 but everyone tells me to stay away from it. Congratulations on the new Compact. You are going to love it. They are wonderful machines. This is why I serviced the power nozzle right away. After sitting for 30 years, the belt turned out like this with a bend in it where it wrapped around the motor shaft not moving for so long. The nozzle runs like a champ now.

Brushroll Oil...

The bearings in the brushroll on the Compacts and TriStars are bronze. You can successfully use sewing machine oil or household 3 in 1, but for the best results and longevity, use motor bearing oil. 3 in 1 makes it that you can buy at just about any hardware store and comes in a blue bottle. Detergent-free SAE20 oil works equally well, but it's tough to find.

WD-40 is a bad idea since it will evaporate. Eventually leaving the brushroll support rod rubbing directly on the bronze bearing, thus ruining it! With the proper oil used, the rod never actually touches the bronze lining.

NEVER EVER use engine motor oil. It contains detergents which will literally dissolve the bronze bearing! Turns into a thick black tar and destroys the bearing permanently.

Compact NIB

I should've kept the box 4 my red TriStar! But the vac was used a lot & the box thrown out. I also had a gold Compact (no tools; hose only) VERY POWERFUL!
Do U have the shampooer?

Fred...

Congrats. Somehow, I overlooked this thread. She's a beaut! And, oh my, what MINT condition too. You lucky devil, you. Can't wait to see it in June. You do have the best vacuum Karma.

Mike

I have to get more Compacts.......I started out with a TriStar and I just love the brand! I've got 3 of them now, but enough is never enough.

I have a question about that power head though.......in a couple of the pictures it looks like the shiny portion of the label is a hologram.....is that an illusion or is there a hologram or a texture to the shiny section?

its a

metallic sort of color. in different lights it changes to all sorts of colors like a rainbow effect.
