That bolt Is supposed to be there. That is the bolt used to hold the armature securely in place in the ball bearing when the motor is being disassembled. It prevents the fans from banging the air.diffusers.

What kind of noise are you hearing? Is it a strange squealing noise? If so that is a dry transmission and is common in these.
