Thanks to a lot of help from my friend Hans Craig in North Carolina, I now have an Electrolux that I’ve wanted for many years: A tan Model L, sold as the lower-tier model with the deluxe tan Model G. Both models had the same attachments, optional power nozzle and off-white hose with gold tracing.

My reason for wanting it is kinda silly I suppose. When I was 9 or 10 years old I was riding my bike around on the Island where we lived. I turned a corner and saw the Electrolux Man’s Econoline van in front of a house. Of course I was immediately interested in what he was doing there! I parked my bike and ran up to the house.

It was a warm summer day and their front door was wide open. I went up to the door and saw the Electrolux Man showing a Tan Model L to the lady of the house. I said, ever Mr. Tactful, “That’s the cheap model. You should get the better one!”

The Electrolux man — obviously annoyed — said, “Run on home sonny!”

I don’t know whether or not the lady bought the “cheap model.”

Anyhow, I recently happened to come across a Facebook Marketplace listing where the buyer was selling the tan L and a late-version Model E that I also wanted because it has some differences from the earlier Model E, and I didn’t have one.

The seller was located in North Carolina and wasn’t interested in shipping the machines to me. I contacted Hans to see if he would be willing to go get them and send them to me. Well, he did just that! The tan L arrived today.

As you can see, it’s in immaculate condition and runs perfectly! I’m tickled pink to have it!

Thanks, Hans!

I don't understand why the salesman would get mad if you're trying to get the woman to buy something more expensive. Wouldn't that give him a larger commission?

Nice Find Charles!

It's always exciting when you can add a machine to your collection that's been on your wanted list! I'm happy for you!

A trip down memory lane and cleaned on the present path with the same classic model Electrolux - that L is not only 'limited' but also 'lovely'!

Congratulations to you Charles! This vacuum cleaner is a beauty! and it looks like new ! your anecdote when you were a little boy moved me a lot, because I was also this little boy...

And I was!
