Automatic cord winder (back end) of Cdn ZB88 --changeable?

Hello folks in the vacuum collecting world! I realize this thread is aged out considerably, but I figure what the heck (I'll give it a try, and let's see what comes of it).

I need help from all you astute and genuine Electrolux vacuum repairers (or restorers) out there. (You're all experts by now, right?!)

I recently acquired for myself a Canadian model ZB88 Elux-o-matic in excellent working condition. It's the 2nd version of this model, with the cream coloured bumpers all around.

I want to change out the automatic cord winder for this one with another one.
Is that possible? If so, how does one go about doing that??

The whole reason is that the cord was replaced on my ZB88, and I found another ZB88 online that I'm going to buy for next to nothing... and the cord is original (including the original bulb stopper intact). So I'd really like to find out if I can take off the back end cord winder on my ZB88 to replace it with this other one (it's exactly the same) with the original cord in it, bulb stopper and all.

Is this something anyone has tried (or done)? I figure those of you who might have worked on an Electrolux ZB88 might be able to offer some much needed direction and guidance.

- 2nd thing -
I'd like to also ask if anyone has ever tried to swap out the red front caster (or wheel)? Mine is in terrible condition, and if I can swap it out for a much better looking one, I want to do that.

Thanks as always, Chad L (Toronto, Canada).

Hi Chad

Changing cord winders is simple. Pop the back end open. Turn over the machine. And between the post on the machine housing and the post on the cord reel housing you will see a clip that holds the wheel in place. Use a couple of small, flat screwdrivers to pop them out then pull out the wheels and the cord reel is free.

Thanks, Doug. I'll give it a go and I'll be sure to come back to report on my success (or lack thereof), LOL.

And what about the front caster? Is it removable (to be swapped)?

---Thanks, Chad

Hi Doug,

Just so I understand what it is you're telling me, here are some pictures I uploaded just so I grasped what you're saying.

Step 1 - open up the back end (unhinge the clamp). [Photo 1]
(btw, I do have the air filter which belongs in there ...I took it out is all.)
Step 2 - turn over the machine. [Photo 2]
Step 3 - Find the clip that is between the 2 posts that are on the housing of the machine & the housing of the cord reel itself. [Photos 3 & 4]

Use a small flat head screwdriver to try and pop these clips off...
[No photo of that, 'cuz I haven't done it yet.]
