I've had this Sunbeam Floor Conditioner for YEARS, And it's been merrily scrubbing the tile for the past 50 years.

However, I went to once again scrub with glee, Only to be meet with no sign of life.

The last time I used this cleaner was last week, And it did sound as if slowing down, The poor thing's Carbon brushes must be gone. She's tarnished and dirty, but still got the job done well, every time.

I'll leave her in retirement, With a Hoover Floor-A-Matic to hopefully take her place.

And,

My model 12 Mixmaster....=)....

When i was a little kid, maybe no more than 4 or five years old. My grandparents ( the ones that live here in KS, We lived in Coon Rapids MN at the time), had one in there garage on its bumper between the wall and there deep freezer, i remember it very well because of the toggle switch in the handle being like moms Convertible. Little did i realize it was that Sunbeam. I would love to find another. seeing the ad, and the fact that it was referred to as 50 years old, im guessing that model was from what??? 1961 1962ish?

The Hoover Floor-A-Matic was one of the company's best kept secrets.  I just used mine about a week ago on the kitchen floor.  Wonderful little machine; you'll love it!  They were made up until about 2000, when the Floor Mate came out, the FAM was discontinued.

Where they really?

@hoovercelebrity-I thought they where discontinued DECADES ago, Not just 13 Years! Do you have any example of the newer models?

@GottahaveaHoover- I new you would chime in with that!

@1926700- We have an old Sunbeam mixer, just like the one pictured. It's an family heirloom, And sitting in the bottom of our Kitchen Cabinet.

Speaking of the Floor-A-Matic, was Hoover the only brand that made the type that vacuumed up the water after scrubbing? It's the only one of which I am aware, anyway.

I find it hard to believe that Aerus hasn't added that feature on its Floor Pros or that other companies such as Kirby haven't done so.

Ah, such a trusted and worthy tool, I could not leave it disabled. Even if I retired it I would not be able to sleep unless I had it working as it should or knew I was in the process of making it so. Fix that little gem even if you don't plan to use it again. It deserves that much for all the service it has given you.

Tortoise guy,

You're right, but where would carbons even be found today? John Long, should you be reading this, I am happy with my HOOVER! The Sunbeam's replacement is a Penncrest polisher (the PenneyPolisher!!!!

). It's scrubbing along fine in it's place until the Sunbeam returns from the grave (Errhhmm, The Barn!

Sunbeam

I love anything Sunbeam. Their motto used to be built with integrity, backed by service. Now it is here is a piece of crap that cannot be repaired. It hurts my heart. It is the brand I grew up with, sold and we had a repair service here in green bay.
So sad...................
