Aerus VS Electrolux

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Aerus is the new name of the old N.American Electrolux Co.

It's very confusing but it goes like this.

The original Electrolux Co still in existance is a Swedish company that expanded into N.America back in the 1930or so. .(someone else can fill in the proper dates)

They basically ran into money troubles not long after or needed money to continue their European operations so they sold the name "Electrolux" to their N.American division which became a totally separate company from the European company.

Electrolux in Europe was never the same company as Electrolux in the USA/Canada.

Electrolux Europe eventually bought Eureka.

Electrolux N.America sales declined over the past 20 or so years and now they found themselves in trouble so Electrolux Europe bought back the Electrolux name from them which meant our old Electrolux had to change it's name to Aerus.

So actually the Aeurus vacs are our old Electroluxes and the Electroluxes you see in the stores here today aren't.

Confused?

LOL

Many of the New Electrolux machines you guys get in your stores are sold as AEG in Europe and South Africa, what you guys call eureka is sold as Electrolux to Europe and South Africa,

Machines like the

ultra active

ultra silencer

Ultra one

oxy3

and many more are all badged

AEG by Electrolux here

Australia however calls some Electrolux products are called Volta and others Electrolux.

Here is our AEg ultra active

Please note the lack of a PN!!!

It can get a bit confusing, but, Electrolux is the original parent co. that started in Europe, and Aerus is the american spin-off that used to be called Electrolux, until Electrolux told them to change their name, simple as that, I think... :S

Hell yea

confusion regns supreme with Electrolux.

Although I have never seen one yet I also think the old USA Electrolux was a better machine.

What I believe now happens is that Canister aeg and electrolux& eureka machines are designed mostly by Electrolux in sweden and some in china. Upright models are designed by Eureka in the USA.

I used to work for Electrolux SA a division of Electrolux ab in the R&D department, it was loads of fun

Personally I don't really like most cannister or cylinder vacs, they're usually just thrown together and made to look pretty, unlike things like Compacts/Tristars (Before they put the single-stage motor in the DXL onwards), Sebos and other top notch models where they actually thought out the design, yes Electrolux US's full-bag ejector system is pretty interesting, but, that's as far as it goes for me, and as for Eurolux vacuums, well, they never really appealed either, yes the Z500 did have some interest before I actually got one (though never used cos it's just poorly constructed and the motor is useless), but the only Electrolux I like is the soft-bagged Eureka & Sanitaire uprights... :&#92

I wouldn't mind getting myself one of them Z9120As, simply because they carried the Vibragroomer2/3 brushroll over to that vac, but, I'm not that enthusiastic about it being a modern plastic vac... :&#92

Wouldn't mind the blue one if they actually sold it here in the UK:

They do , will they did last time I checked , I bought one from the Uk and shipped it to SA, they came in white and work really well.

I bought it for the cleaning company we owned , it outlasted the sebo's 10 to 1. I think we ended up bringing in 10. great vacs

I'm not a big fan of sebo , there ok but no were near as good as people think they are, the plastic breaks easily, the motors don't last long and cost a fortune to replace, thats my biggest complaint with them, spares. we were spending upwards of £ 150.00 a month on each machine just to maintain them, and then add in bags aswell.

we used 360, 370, x1 x3 g1, they look good when new but are not made the way they used to be.

I like the way they work and have a few in my collection but they are not built to last

at one stage we just bought cheep hoover bag less vacuums , they not only outlasted the sebo's but actually cleaned better two and i could buy one a week and still not spend any were near what we spent on sebo maintenance.

So Electrolux N. America was in trouble, so they sold the name and became Aerus......and that got them out of trouble?

Since they sold their name, how is the company doing now as Aerus?

Yes. I agree that Aerus vac's are much better vacuums than EurektraLux :D

I don't remember where I read this but....

I read somewhere that,  Aerus has the original Electrolux build their vacuums for them now.

Sincerely,

No Aerus does not

build the new Eurektralux vacuums . Those are made by Eureka .Aerus is doing really well . They didn`t sell the name Eureka took it back after the real Electrolux built up it`s reputation. Now they claim (eureka) that they are the Electrolux you grew up with or that Grandma had . Thats how they advertise on QVC and I think it`s a total lie .

The machines you guys now call Electrolux are manufactured By Electrolux ab in the EU. mainly in Hungary

Eureka machines are mainly manufactured by a company called KingClean in the Jiangsu province in China. Kinclean manufactures allot of vacuums for allot of different companys. Basically you ask them to manufacture your goods for you. They do Eureka Russel hobs, Morphy richards to name a few.

Kingclean? Just so long as they don't rename themselves F. KingClean..... :S

It is sad how so many well-known names are just confused between different woners, and even sadder that a lot are being made in china, I'd have loved to have gotten into manufacturing of such products, but, I don't fancy living in a communist state where you have few rights and can't even choose who leads your country...

Heck, the funniest chinese brand confusion I've seen to date are the products from TTI, such as Hoover models sold as Vax here in the UK, Royals made from old Hoover Decade80s, and Maytags that look like a classic floating vac but can't be called Constellation cos of licensing issues.... :S

There's a reason why I like classic vacuum cleaners, back in the days when they were made in the countries the companies first set up shop, and when care was put into design and manufacturing of the end product, these days it's all mass produce cheap, stack 'em up and sell them as cheap, poor quality, disposable items... :&#92

China not free ??

No Offence David but you live in a country were you are taxed on any and everything , your goverment decides what you do and when you do it and your whole life is monitored by cctv cameras, your car can be taken away and crushed if you speed . I.ve been to china , they are free,er than you and me both.

Its nothing like you think at all . its a beautiful place with a vibrant culture.

Well, the difference between the UK and china is we have the right to vote, we don't copy-engineer Western brands, we don't buy in old model car tooling and make western cars into vile cut & shuts (Look up the Etsong Lande, the result of taking the Austin Maestro cab and the Austin Montego front end, I call it the Monstro, and slapping in a Mazda-copy engine and calling it their own), manufacturing is not state-owned (mainly cos china stole it all), we're not testing nuclear weapons and threatening to use them if people object to our ways, we're not severely restricted on the internet by state-firewalls, I could go on, but I'd need to do more googling on the amount of restrictions and state-imposed limits that china has to suffer...

It may be indeed be a nice place with wonderful people, but, it's those in charge who do not want to relinquish their power because of the financial rewards and ability to make up whatever laws they like (definition of corruption?) who make it look like a bad country, so, it's their own fault...

There's a reason many Chinese people left China to live in the western world, and that's freedom, there's a chinese family in this town who have been here since about '71, they're well known and well loved, plus they make great takeaway food from their takeaway "China Garden"... :P

Aerusvs Electrolux

i Personal like the eurekaluxs over the aerusluxs . I find the Guardans didnt give my carpets a deep clean . just my two cents
