Hi all, i have an Aerus Lux Classic and i will switch it on for about 30 seconds and it will switch right off. Nothing is clogged and i have disassembled it down to the commutator on the motor and cleaned everything and it is still not working. Any ideas?

BTW, i can not take it to be serviced. Not in the budget
i want to service it myself.

Is there a control board of any kind? If so, it's likely receiving an input that it doesn't like. ie, it thinks it's clogged, or hot.

If not, don't these have some kind of like bag full pressure switch? Something to make it turn off when there's a clog, etc? Check that stuff.

The Control Valve on my Epic 6000SR was wonky and would do the same as you're describing. Until I replaced, I disconnected, watched YouTube on how to do it. Maybe it's the Control Valve? Good Luck.

The manual for this vacuum describes the following in the screenshot:

So with that said, if it is the control valve cutting off suction or airflow, its allowing the motor to heat itself up and triggering the thermal protection safety switch.

Levi, good for you for determining the thermostat is the problem. However, whatever you do, DO NOT BYPASS IT!

Why? Because with many vacuum motors installed in vacuums, the thermostat tripping could be a sign that the motor is drawing excessive current that it was not designed to run at and the motor is bad. If you bypass the thermostat, chances are good the motor could destroy itself, catch fire, and destroy the body of the vacuum.

I would replace the thermostat and hope that works, but I would be counting on having to buy a new motor.

Yes I agree

Yeah, definitely need to figure out if it’s the motor overheating or just a bad thermostatic switch. Aside from burning up the machine should it catch fire, that could be a real mess in your home.
