Electromatic
I have been to Grundy and Hurley when I was door to door with Elux. There was an office in VanSant at one time next to river.Haven't been since the town was moved out of flood plain. How far in NC are you? I love NC but never seem to get farther than Asheville or Hickory. The direct connect is at top of wand only but can also be easily swiveled for under beds by stepping on release at elbo and turning wand.(Trivia-Sears was first with direct & Leywt, but with low voltage.)Looking outdated is not a bad thing as I feel most dependable vacs will look like something your grandmother would recognise.(The modern, pretty Sears direct telescopic wand can be a nightmare of quality & price.)Meile is one of the best examples of modern Quality but as some have noticed there is a confusing variety of models, hoses,Standard atts, optional atts, turbo nozzles, eletric nozzles, etc. The model T was at a time when other companies had drop down models such as the AirWay 85,GE Swivel top with no whheels, basic Sears, etc. The T was a 'stovepipe with a motor in it'type but was still good for customer on budget. It also became an Elux for the salesman who was afraid to show deluxe models at higher price and Elux is said to have lost money on each one.As to "Aerus Reputation" to put it bluntly I don't feel they have one.I welcome anyone to test this theory by talking to 20 random people with no particular knowledge of vacs.Around April 86 when the Discovery II was introduced there were many times that upright Disc was around $299 and a quality LE type canister was around $399.At that time Electrolux had more new branches, more salespeople earning good money and winning prizes and MORE sales. The Discovery was sold faster than they could make them on preferrential orders to be delivered when next shipment came in!
