Yeah, that's manufacturers' favorite way to retroactively kill otherwise fixable machines in an effort to force consumers to buy the new plasticrap they're trying to foist off on them. The best defense is to have a decent stash of NOS and salvaged parts on hand, because at the end of the day, selective hoarding can be a bit of a necessity. My main problem is when I get a parts machine, I'm just as likely to give in to temptation and repair it, even if it ends up costing way too much money to do it.
