Because if someone brought their unit in under warranty with a non genuine bag it could void the warranty depending on how picky your dealer is. Example, I like DVC hepa type c bags, if my ultralux classic was still under warranty I would remove the non genuine bag when bringing it in to keep the warranty in effect.

I've got a 90th Legacy, basically the same machine as the Classic. They are quite nice vacuums, so congrats on the purchase. I love supporting Aerus/Electrolux. I'm somewhat jealous that the Classic is still compatible with historic tools, whereas the Legacy really isn't (metal vs. plastic wands).

I really hope that Aerus doesn't stop selling the old school vacs. One of their salespeople told me recently that the Classic and Legacy barely sell anymore now that the Platinum is out, but he might have been exaggerating in an attempt to sway me toward the Platinum. Either way, I love the old machines.

The hose from a Classic (or Epic 6000) will fit the Legacy...

Nice buy! I have a 90th Legacy. I, too, hope that those machines continue to be sold. They're a real blast from the past.

The amount of listings on ebay has really declined recently, as have the prices.
Especially for the steel body models.

The design of the Lux Classic originated in Canada in 1982 with the E-Special as was the E-2000, now known as the Lux Legacy; so their longevity proves their sound design and overall performance.

It would be even better if frequent updates and improvements were made to keep them competitive.

The Ultralux line was made from 84 to 92 and covered about 10 models.
I don't believe the original model had the sidekick.

But it will fit those models and many before those 1984 models.

Do you remember the color or name of the Ultralux she had? When she got it?

My UltraLUX before packing it away ..
original hose was discarded, since I had to conserve space.

Electrolux Corporation introduced the 'Ultralux' model name in 1990 with the revised model number 1521 tank cleaner. Continuing revisions and cosmetic changes were reflected with model name additions:

• Ultralux, factory paired with unlighted power nozzle 1622, 1990-91, light sand gray trimmed in navy
• Ultralux LX, factory paired with lighted power nozzle 1692, 1991-92, light sand gray trimmed in navy
• Ultralux Classic, factory paired with lighted power nozzle 1693, 1992-94, navy trimmed in light sand gray

The Sidekick which sold during this time was the model 1562 (earlier ones had a black reset button instead of a switch and were not identified with a model number.
_____

In the early 2000s, the model name was reused for an indirect sales tank cleaner called 'Ultralux 2000', model number C151C, factory paired with unlighted power nozzle N115U. Its main color was light sand gray (or something similar), and it was trimmed in black.

The 'Ultralux' moniker was also put to use for the 80th anniversary model number C152E tank cleaner in 2004. When the 'Aerus' logo was added the model number was changed to C152F. The factory-paired power nozzle for both was model number N115S. Colors were light sand gray (or something similar) and regatta blue.

Sidekick model number K119M in light sand gray was likely sold as the customer option for the 21st Century Ultralux's, due to its matching main color.

Incidentally, there was also a rebadged upright cleaner sold in the early 2000s as 'Ultralux by Electrolux', model number U160A.
