AEG Nimble

Picked up one of these today for just under £90 at a trade warehouse, when I saw the price I had to get it lol. They've always intrigued me and I kinda like the fact it look a bit different from the usual bagless uprights. Have given the house a quick going over with it and its heavy to use but it really brought up the carpet pile. The swivel steering does not make it go round corners easily at all a bit of lie by the marketing team in my opinion. The brush-roll is made of wood and has very stiff bristles, it pulls itself across the room! It's not quiet but not ear-piercing either, certainly not a high pitched screamer. Here are some pics...

Dan, congrats...  I like that it has the metal bottom plate and the chevron brushroll.  I don't like the location of the power switches though.  My manager who has a Kirby G series and a base model Oreck just bought one and he said it is amazing.  He asked me for advised and said he wanted something mainly for bare floors and above the floor since the Kirby was a nightmare, but he didn't want to spend a fortune.  I told him to get a Panasonic canister (due to the requirement of not wanting to spend a lot)...  his wife bought this on QVC and he said they don't even use the other vacuums anymore...  I told him not to go bagless because he has pets and allergies, but he forgot to pass my advice on to his wife, who may not have listened anyway )

Thanks Bobby, I have set up a YouTube channel and plan on making some videos of this and my other cleaners soon. I didn't notice the hose pulling back when I tried the attachments, its very stretchy and flexible. I don't think this will be used daily because of the weight but it will be nice to use now and again.

Mm maybe I should buy more of the Vax VCU02 uprights - I see they cost about £100 to £130 online and yet the ones at the shop local to me are selling them each for £39-99!

I think that AEG have tried to produce a bagless version of the Miele S7 here with the Nimble, as it has many similarities, such as the swivel neck, the led headlights (which only the S7510 and above get), the led's in the switches, which Miele have on the S7 also. Also the high quality brushroll and metal soleplate which the S7 has.
The problem with the Nimble is that I have read reports of it being fragile and the tool holder breaking off the back - as it is very close to the cable wrap tidy.
Interesting that AEG only back it up with a 2 year warranty - especially as Dyson offer 5 years and mIele offer the ability to upgrade to 10 years on the S7 range.

I've always thought that the head on the Nimble looks like one of those American style trucks with a long bonnet and front wings over the wheels!

Just be careful with it, and it should look after you.

Congratulations on your new Nimble. I had the dark grey version for two years and liked it very much apart from a couple of niggles. The power cord drove me mad, very stiff outer coating and it twisted up terribly, so much so the outer cord detached it's self from the body of the cleaner.

As mentioned in another thread after we got our cat I realised the cyclone was not as efficient as I first thought as the foam filter on top of the bin would be coated in cat hair after a couple of weeks.

Hopefully these little problems have been sorted out now. The cleaner itself is very well made, I really liked the fact it had a metal base plate.

Thanks for the comments, yes Steve I do see some of the similarities to the S7 and it does feel well made. After using it a few times now I've gotten used to the swivel steering and find it nice to use if not a bit heavy. The head is different and I love your comparrison to an American truck thats what I'm going to see now everytime I look at it! I agree about the warrenty if I'd paid the RRP I would expect a longer warranty!

Paul, we only have budgies so no pet hair to worry about just feathers lol having said that some seed husks and and feathers get to the premotor motor filters on most of my bagless cleaners exceptions being the lift-away and DC38. I'm going to do some comparrions with the M/R lift-away when I have the chance, my feelings are that this grooms the carpet better as the bristles seem stiffer the lift-away does beat it on manoeuvrability though as its much lighter and the smaller head fits under furniture easier.
