There is no rating plate pictures-

And the pictures of the supposed broken dyson are all different! The 1st Dyson has no rating plate sticker and lime green DC04 tools. The other 3 have matching tools and no sticker. Why would you put 1 picture of the actual machine, and then 3 pictures of a newer machine with no relevance to the "Broken" Dyson (How often do I hear the term "Broken Dyson"!
smiley-tongue-out.gif
)?

Beat the Dyson DC04 for a bagless machine :P
It is reliable, durable, sturdy, quiet, powerful, has a large capacity, has a round brushbar and other models have a clutch
Has HEPA
Has nice, proper tools
Has Great tool storage
Has a washable filter
Easy to take apart without any tools, a belt change is very quick
The cable is so easy to change, only 1 screw
It is user friendly
It has a suction control button on the handle
It lasts so long, I now many people in my neighbourhood alone who use DC04's.
The Dyson DC04 is more powerful than the modern vacs today (as in performance)
Te Dyson DC04 was one of the cheaper Dysons
The Dyson DC04 has the reliable motors, and it is a British made vacuum. They are geninely great Dysons, ask any UK vacuumland member about a DC04, they will start sayin positive things about them. Well it does have a few niggles like the odd cable connection (but this was sorted) and the large wand cap which is annoying.

All of those AND MORE.....

Can be found in a FANTOM! I just got done scrubbing down a nice THUNDER model, Such a lovely and efficient cleaner! I could care less for a clutch, The belt's a LOT easier to replace without it!

HEPA Filtration- Dyson has it too
VERY VERY large bin compacity- Dyson has it too, and British homes are small
Voted a Consumer's Best Buy (Even the Stickers hold up on a Fantom!)-So has Dyson Recently and back in the day
Long Telescoping hose+handle combination (Not to mention you can connect UNLIMITED extension hoses!)Dyson does not need a lot of extension hoses in a small British home
Easy-Access blockage removal doors- Dyson has air ways you can take off, without tools.
DUAL HEADLIGHTS! (Something DYSON cannot see the "light" in, Pun intended, of course!) - You gonna vacuum in a powercut?
VERY Easy To Empty dust bin.- So is Dyson
Rated for COMMERCIAL USE (Remember, The Thunder is a Commercial design originally known as the "Vectron"!)- Dyson DC04 constant max can
On-Board Floor Tool (You'd have to carry it around on that DYSON!)- I will give you that +1
Better Brush-Roll design+ Dyson DC04's round brush grooms nicely
2 Screws to change a belt (And Headlights!)-NO CLUTCHES REQUIRED! - You do not need any tools to take a soleplate off a non clutched one which is all you need. Just a coin which most people have in their pockets
Tools of unbelievable quality
AUTOMATIC Blockage Indicator (WHISTLES When there's a blockage! very handy with those Blockage Doors!)+Dyson has it too
ALSO AUTOMATIC Filter Replacement Indicator. Button shows RED when filter requires replacement!- Dyson stops sucking after a few years. People are meant to wash it every 6 months
Easy and reliable spring-loaded Handle Release (A nice Push-Button, I've never seen a broken one! I've seen plenty of broken Dyson ones!)- Is that what Kirby has?
HUGE and reliable motors. I've NEVER seen a Thunder or Fury model with a bad motor!- Early Dysons are rarely seen with burnt out motors.
The Following are what the Thunder excels in compared to modern bagless cleaners (Especially Dyson!)
Durability- Dyson has it too
Cleaning= Dyson has satisfying performance
Above-Floor cleaning- Dyson has it too
Features- Dyson has good features
Brush Design- OK
Overall Design- Yes, Dyson
Performance- Yes, Fantom is meant to be used in American homes
Cyclonic Action- Dyson has it too, but what is its purpose?

Reliable handle release? Most dysons don't even have one. And as for fantom, I have two furys and a cyclone xt AND a lightning with broken handle releases.

Reliable motors? The fury used a cheap and dumbed down motor and I have two with either bad or going-bad motors. And one of my two thunders is having a major arcing problem.

Extension hoses? You need them for the fantoms if you plan on vacuuming your stairs. Since the dc01 dyson has had a stair cleaning hose.

And at least dysons protect their motor with pre filters, something Iona was too lazy to do.

As far as the durability issues I described above, none ocured in my use and all happened prior to my ownership.

P.S: I still love fantoms.

a challenger has appeared!

Please, the last time I went to empty a DC07 the bin broke every plastic piece it could!

In what world does Kirby have a telescoping handle? I'll be putting the Thunder against the DC07 shortly, then you'll understand why the Fantom is superior.

And yes,I do tend to vacuum in power outages

.

Back on subject, glad to see the new replacement is ready. Have you seen my 1950s scanning thread over in the household forum? I upload an old add for Citroen cars, and I know I have at-least one other to scan.

Oh my, how do you empty a Dc07? I have a very fragile mint British 2001 Dc07 and it gets emptied properly with nothing breaking or snapping off. Just pull the trigger, and take the bin off by un releasing it simply with the catch provided.
PS The Dyson does not have any foot pedals which break, you can jump on a dyson cleaner head to kick it down, stomp on it or whatever you want and it is that reliable.

The downfall of Fantom

was the fact that there was NO pre-motor filtration on the Thunder and Fury. Just a screen to catch 'fluff'. The idea was to fill the $75 Hepa filter every two years. Once James invented MEMA filters (Maximum Efficiency - Maximum Airflow) that could be washed, Fantom wanted nothing to do with them. They were "in the business" of selling filters. Which is one reason James did NOT allow them to use his patents after the ten year contract expired.

To the Dyson's credit, even the first model (DC01) had a pre-motor filter.

boooo MEMA filters,

And you bet your bwerks it will be on YouTube! So far the results are in Fantom's favor, but I'm even giving the DC07 a second chance to beat the Fantom by washing the filters. The tests should be done by next week.I'll start a thread with the results.

I empty my DC07 like a baby-still broke everywhere!

The Dyson DC01 and DC02 Cyclone handle carry handles are indestructible! You will never see one snapped off, even if its thrown off a cliff or used in a commercial environment
