Ok, nothing serious guys but this has been bugging me a bit. I have a good mix of hardwood floors, vintage as in worn, and a few room sized Orientals. Normally they get a good beating once or twice a week with the Decade 80 or my much loved Concept 1. But if I go off rug to floor, it gets interesting. The cat fur comes running to either from inches away, seems maybe Concept wins this one, but cat litter gets thrown out the back of the 80, Concept catches it. I know different fans and brush roll, is it the fan that is making more air flow on the Concept or what??

The two vacuums adjust differently. The concept's roller behind the brush opening keeps the soleplate parallel with the floor. The Decade adjusts from the rear wheels and the nozzle is always 'tilted'. Also, the concept's brush pattern brushes dirt towards the suction opening. You'll note the beater bar brush in the Decade has brush strips that, as they revolve, do not brush the dirt towards the middle. Couple that with the tilted nozzle, and you won't be satisfied with the Decade's bare floor cleaning compared to the Concept's.

ahh, very interesting! Just noticed it was not good at all when I tried to pick up something next to the carpet on the floors. Thanks.

I believe in addition to what was mentioned it also has a tiny bit to do with the direction of the fans, horizontal vs vertical.
