A rare vintage row of beauty!!!!

These are all of our Lewyts. I do have hoses and attachments but I didn't grab them. I really wanted to do a spa treatment before taking this picture but Shaylee and I spent the whole day working on the kitchen in this big old house of ours. Anyhow the house is another story for another day and another thread....

The model 77 she picked up for me at an estate sale not knowing if I would like it but she thought it was cute. It's all original including the hose and optional hose hanger. I love this one because of the Mercedes hub caps.

The 107 is the first Lewyt automatic upright with Lewyts first power nozzle. It has a long cord the goes around the hose and plugs into the cleaner much like the original Elux PN-1. It looks to have a headlight lens but this is just a panel for looks. There is no headlight.I have a replacement hose and the attachment caddy is broken off. Also missing all attachments.

The 111 is the first Electronic automatic upright with the low voltage currant running through the wands possibly malfunctioning and giving people a mild shock. I've not had this experience yet. I have the original green electronic hose however in very bad shape. Attachment caddy is broken off and also missing all attachments. Notice the neat pack of generic bags... it's this model on the cover with the power nozzle. Compliments our president Chad. This model does have headlight.

Last but not least we have the final (as far as I know) Lewyt Electronic produced. The 121. This is my nicest and most complete model that I bought from Chad. It has all attachments, original hose and a perfect attachment caddy. Also has headlight.

I got all 4 of these this year alone!!! (except the model 111. I got the vacuum from Alex B many years ago but I bought the Power nozzle this year).And no I did NOT spend a fortune like one would have on Ebay.

Nice Lewyts you have there, and so kind of your wife to have found it for you. My wife tolerates my collection and did go with me to the North Canton Convention, but doesn't watch for them for me.
I have 3 Lewyts myself, models 40, 55, and 90, also known as the Golden Lewyt. Got the 40 off ebay, the 55 was a gift from a fellow collector who was downsizing, and the 90 was a gift from a neighbor across the street. First pic is the 40, second is the 55, third is the 90.

Oh I'm good lol I'm getting to the point that I don't want anymore unless its an exceptional desired machine like An ABC power nozzle for Compact, or the grey pn1 for The Electrolux Automatic F, or a Convertible 334.

I know what you mean, Phil. There are a few that I'm still looking for, such as a model 210 Electro-Hygiene tank (pre-war model), a 990 Galaxy Prestige like the ones I sold when I went back to work at Electro-Hygiene in 1976, Westinghouse tank or Westinghouse big wheel canister. Other than that, I've got most of the machines I want, and am actually thinking of downsizing a bit, just have to figure out which ones I'm ready to part with.

Oh Jeff, Good luck on the downsizing!!! I have gone into the vacuum rooms soooo sooo many times with that look on my face of whos next, who goes byebye. They all look at me with those big pussy cat eyes and say but I'm happy here. I have to downsize some duplicates and some that really don't do anything for me. I have about 50 that can go but they aren't anything special. I'm ready to do it now I need to find the time. No that I have better space I want to make room for the ones that do excite me more. They younger generation will be more interested in what I have to part with.

I actually have a nickname for the ones that shocked people, I call it the zapper. Weren't there three power nozzle models? I think the first one worked fine, was it the 111 and 121 that were the zappers? Apparently they cleaned really well, it's a shame they had this design flaw, I'm not sure if Lewyt just didn't test it enough or what the deal was.

Unfortunately, no they didn't. From what I was told the windings on the motor were varnished and when the motor heated up, the varnished melted shooting 120 volts through the hose and the power nozzle. Many a lawsuit ensued and ultimately it resulted in the demise of the company. They eventually became Shetland-Lewyt which disappeared by the mid-'70's. Lewyt might have had a different fate had they tested the design more thoroughly or didn't put all their eggs in one basket and offered an upright as well.

I've also heard that it was dust getting in to the motor that caused this to happen, I would think it would also destroy the power nozzle if it was designed to run at only 12 volts.

The first Lewyt PN

Which uses the cord and 120 volts is pretty good...It has NO BELT but is gear driven, I have one and also have the Lewyt store demonstrator which has a clear window in the top and a light so you can see it working.

I have the 107 and 111 in my collection as well but have not been able to find the power nozzles for them.

My corded 120v power nozzle for my 107 must be a later version because it has a geared belt. I have seen a few of the very first one with all gears and it's so cool. Mine is dated 1959 or 60 even though it's 107. Could this be a reissue or did they continue to produce this as a lower end to the non corded one? Or another theory I had was maybe after all the shit went down with them they brought this one back to hold them over?

My green 111 is dated 1958 and my 121 is dated 1961
