Miele S 228i. Date of manufacture approx please
Oops last message wrong number. I have one of these - still working brilliantly. But need to know if it's over 30 years old. I bought it 1986 or before. Any information appreciated. Thank you. It's the same model as the Miele on top of this forum.

For info, although these came out in the mid-late 80's, they were still around into the early 90's as the budget cylinder.

I knew I recognized your red (rot)Miele Chris! It is from the late 80's or very early 90's. I saw a full page color magazine add for either Visa or MasterCard with Jerry Seinfeld as the promoter. He was poised on the back of a moving van with that vacuum, or one very similar. If the caption on the page said "everywhere you want to be" it was Visa. I just don't recall.
Sam (beko) like the Turkish appliances? They had some issues with refrigerator/ freezer fires.
Funky? It displays the evolution of Miele since their first abs plastic canisters. Like BMW, and Mercedes and Audi/VW cars? The early to mid 80's 280 series were all white on the sides, with a color inset on the top.
Chris, I believe the hoover is heavier. It may be from the motor, which may be a heavier all steel design, while Miele may have already been using a plastic partial housing. Miele brags about their skeleton design on the latest C3 (funky)?? models. Maybe they were already using that then as well. They say it is lighter than their C2 series. Their C1 series are made in China, and are not hepa sealed systems. Marketers often re invent new names for already in place technology. I notice it lacks a place at the exhaust for a hepa filter.

Mike, this is from the days long before HEPA filters were fitted to vacuums.
Here is the brochure from October 1988 for this cleaner. By this point and into the early 90's, the new models had come out and this design became the budget model, which is a practive that Miele still operate today.
