So, after trying to talk myself out of it, I decided to give in and buy myself a graduation present!

Behold! A Brand new-in the box-Eureka ESP model 2061.

I decided to put this in the vintage forum, even though it probably seeps into the early 80's, a bit--it's unused in the box, and at least 20 years old. :-)

What a fantastic cleaner! Really sucks tight to the carpet! When cleaning the frieze carpeting, I have to set it on shag so it doesn't kill my arm to push!

Enjoy the pictures (see link below).

You and my "siamese twin" are starting to act alike with all of this bojack stuff...(yikes) (hides)

Where oh where is my siamese twin???

Fred, congratulations on that FABULOUS machine. What a beauty...don't you just love those minty fresh Eurekas? I know it has that "new vintage plastic" smell like mine do! As I mentioned before, the date is in the manual if you're curious in finding out what year it's from. If I were to guess, I'd say mid-80's, although the bag pattern and logo placement is the same as my 1438 from 1983 (just a different color).

I can't believe you actually used it though! ;-)

*ducks and runs*

Fred,

I think those "newer" Eurekas are wonderful cleaners and can at times give the Hoovers a real run for the money.

And, of course, you definately deserve a great graduation present. The crap that is visable after a week of not vacuuming is all the proof we need that it is a good cleaner.

OOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I'm in my Eureka mode right now!! I love that cleaner! Fred, try to get an attachment set and see how much suction that cleaner has! You will be surprised!!! Don't feel bad about getting yourself a present! I do it all the time!!!!LOL!

Great cleaner Fred, and I love your tree too. I'm getting one of those trees for next year. The cleaner is roughly 20 years old. My roommate had one back then. Nice machine for the rugs. I used a 1205 as the canister. I'm kind of wishing I had bought that green retro cleaner they offered for a while a few years ago. Maybe one will show up sometime on Ebay or something.

Beautiful Eureka

Fred..

Wow.. what a beautiful find. Those Eureka ESP uprights sure do have some power. I have the red cordaway model and the green one that came along a little later. Very fun machines to use! Thanks for the pic :)

and it has a metal handle, badass! and about the dirt in the bag, thats a high-amp Eureka for you! of course, just thinking, compared to 12 amps, i guess 6.5 is not that high? i dare a D***n to clean this well!

Congrats! The Eureka is an excellent machine!
I had a Eureka Boss 2034 upright. It actually had a 5.5 amp Sanitaire motor with tall fan blades instead of the 6.5 amp Sanitaire motor with tall fan blades.

Consumer Reports:
Eureka Boss 2034 upright
excellent in carpet cleaning
excellent in bare floor cleaning
fair in suction
fair in noise
excellent in emissions

Fred,
That's a really nice Eureka! And since Hoover has abandoned that style of machine, you don't have to take any abuse from anyone <G> for its not being a Hoover. And for ordinary customers (not collectors) it's nice to know that that same machine continues as part of the blue (household) Sanitaire line today. I sell them.

Hoover has not abandoned this type of cleaner yet! They still make a commercial version of the old Hoover Convertible called Guardsman. Here is my C1431 from a year or two ago. You can get them with the dust cup or the bag you see here. I would say that the current eureka and Guardsman are very similar in design and function. They each have their strong points.

You have a great machine there Fred...I am sorry if I had offended you in any way. Eureka has always been a top competitor of the Hoover Company. Many of their models are top notch carpet cleaners. As a collector, I can understand wanting one brand new in the box. I hope to see your fantastic collection some day in person.

The current Commercial Hoover Convertibles/Guardsmans has a metal agitator with two brushes and no beater bars...They should make the wood agitator with four brushes standard equipment on these models.

Oh, please!

No offense taken! ((It takes a LOT more than that to offend me))

The main appeal was the NIB status.

You know I'm a Hoover man through and through!

Correction to the availability of the C1431 (like what you have pictured), and the C1631 (Decade 80-style with the bag)... both have been discontinued, and are only available as the C1433 or C1633--with the dirt cup. We sell so many more of the machines with the dirt cup... for whatever reason.

Thanks for the update, Fred. Are you still able to get the outer bag for the dirt cup models? I would much rather us the bag with a nice type "A" bag than that messy cup. Our school has two of the dirt cup models. It is a good choice for that setting. Thanks again!

discontinued

what horrible news. if only the seals on the dirt cup were a little better. Fred, i hope you will keep us updated about what the new owners are doing! David

Bojack?

Fred, I looked at all the pics of this, and it looks like everything's original. I can't figure out what I'm missing on this machine that's bojack. So, I'm crying Uncle! It would have fooled me; I think it looks perfect.
